I read somewhere that Boeheim's son Buddy is one of the players who sat yesterday. I can't imagine being a man in his mid 70s with college-aged children. Maybe it keeps him young.
It was interesting because from 1998-2006, Cuse was rivaled only by ND as the team that would get most often eaten up by the RAC. RU won at home in 98, 99, 02, and 03. Didn't play there in 00, 04, or 06, and in 01 and 05, last-place RU teams took top-15 Cuse teams down to the wire. I still remember a senior Hakim Warrick taunting the student section after they came back to win in 05 and you could see the relief in his body language; as decorated as he was, he was 0-2 at the RAC in his career up to that point. But the last several years of the BE were brutal no matter where, though I think RU typically covered at home.Good point. Didn’t remember us winning so many during that time. Cuse fans look at their 30-12 overall FB series record vs RU.
In MBB it’s even worse before last night. They still talk about Johnny Flynn dunking over Mike Rosario.
Series History: Syracuse leads 39-9 and has won the past 13 meetings. The last time Rutgers was victorious in this series was against the eventual national champions in 2003 behind a 31 point performance from Jerome Coleman and a three-pointer off the glass to win it from Herve Lamizana.
