Sure it does. In the preseason, they look at the prior year, who is coming back, who graduated, any coaching changes or additives and make a projection based on that calculus. Then after game one, the "body of work" gets larger and the analysis becomes more accurate, then the next game....body of work gets larger, etc..

What "body of work" would you need to be able to predict the sun will rise tomorrow morning and from the east?
