I think Hawthorne can play some 4 also. I agree with a CG, although I think Williams will be main backup PG. Having a CG gives some extra backup at PG when/if needed. I also wouldn't mind getting Perry back as an 11th type guy on the bench. He can play both guard spots, and we could use his shooting to spread the court.
I agree on Hawthorne. I think he's a 3/4 (not ever a 2G though) that might play quite a bit of PF in a similar vein as Tayshaun Prince or Nate Ament - thin but long stretch 4s. My guess is he surprises some folks this year and plays a ton.

Now the question is whether Pope screws it all up in season, gets fired, and every one of them hit the portal after the year.

His post defense was elite last season. His perimeter defense was bad. He was a good shot blocker, has good vision, pretty good passer, and developed a pretty dependable short hook by the end of the year. Let’s see how it shakes out. Most teams in the country would love to have MM.
FFS. Elite post defense? Dear lord. I get literally everything you post is googled and AI’d, but Christ man…there’s not a thing about his “post defense” that was elite. Google or run through AI “defensive rebound efficiency”. Then get back to me. Moreno was fine in a lot of phases. Nothing special. Nothing crappy. Certainly nothing “elite”. If he’s your 4th or 5th best player, you’ve got something. If not, you’ve got Pope and a Pinto.

Yeah, if Kam or Hawthorne play the 2…just LOL at the turnovers and lack of offense.

If Hawthorne guards an SEC 4, this team will be worse defensively than Popes first two teams…and that would be an accomplishment.

I think so far it's:

PG: Diallo
SG: Kam Williams
SF: Stokes? TBD
PF: Freeman or Rancik
C: Moreno

6th Man: Wilkins. He can be a microwave scorer and come in for the 1 or the 2.

Surely you don't think you're ongoing troll job is fooling anyone over the age of 7.
he's not a championship level player, which is what I thought we were trying to do here. he was an incredible embarrassment in March, I just watch games and form opinions. soft and slow player will continue to get eaten up by any good big we play.

If he gets Stokes and Freeman he will have the #1 overall recruiting class. Not sure about the sloppy seconds crap
If my aunt had balls, she’d be my uncle.

Well, maybe not in 2026. Gotta be honest, not sure how all this stuff works today. Just pretend it’s 1998 when you read the first sentence. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wilkins gives us a nice CG to play PG as well, and not put too much pressure on FR Williams!

G - Zoom, Williams
G - Wilkins, ?
F - Kam, Hawthorne, Noah
F - ?, ?
C - Moreno, ?, Potter

Freeman and Rancik would look good at the 4 to compliment Moreno.

I can't imagine Potter will be the backup C with little depth. Definitely need a Reibe there.

✅ Mo Williams didn't agree to come here without son being given a fair shake. Will Pope trust him in that role? Regardless, there will be another guard trusted to handle the ball better than Jasper could as a backup!

✅ We need a stud 2G starter and a elite shooter to back him up.

If somehow Stokes comes, that would have to move Kam as a 6th man role. Would Stokes play the point forward as a 4 man if Freeman doesn't come?

My mom is a catrastophist as well. 105K posts and 12K likes. AVOID.

Good luck.
I don't care about your mom. I though we were talking about basketball not internet points, also you're retarded if you think this rinky dink website has been accurately keeping track of likes for 22 years.

Its not exactly a fantastic scenario dude. We are the outright favorite for Freeman and 50/50 on Stokes

Hawthorne is probably a 3, but may be able to flex out to a 4 with the right matchup. I'd have to see a lot more before I will buy him playing at any other position. If he were able to handle well enough to play at the 2, it would be a matchup issue for other teams. Hawthorne has some legit length to him.

Were all the SEC 4s big bully monsters? Honestly I don't remember all of them, and I'm not going to claim that I wouldn't have any concern with Hawthorne always being paired up against a really strong physical PF. But my thought (admittedly taking the positive) is he can get by as a backup PF alright. He's got a ton of length and wingspan, and similar built guys like Prince and Nate Ament have gotten by "ok" defending the position. Honestly we just don't know, but I think we're going to find out because I just don't think he has the kind of body that can get muscularly thick.
