Edit to note: I'm still figuring out what NIL means re: paying tuition/scholarship grants.

BYU tuition is cheaper than I realized... under $6000. About $200k total per year to cover 36. It'll be interesting to see now the NIL stuff works out, but we've always been more of a blue collar program. May be good for us to find ways to spread the money to linemen and whatnot and build a core of stable players who buy in and aren't trying to Dan Mullen us every off season. I think there'll be a lot of people who have breakout years then accept transfer offers from the highest bidder

I see nothing wrong with this, it's a one time thing, helps 36 players, and doesn't really give BYU a competitive advantage.

Obviously, someone will try to corrupt this sort of thing eventually. It's up to the NCAA to curb some of that. And even if they don't, it's still way overblown. That company won't do that every single year.

Won't happen, too much of a premium being placed on playing time, and too many avenues to keep that in check. This isn't 1960 where the coaches can just straight up lie to players.

If those 26 walk-ons at BYU could get PT at another similar school, they'd be gone, regardless of free tuition.

I'm fine with them picking up the tab for the walk on's. But I went to the game in Provo in 2017 (I think). Talked with a bunch of them the next morning at breakfast. What a bunch of arrogant axxholes. 17 them.

You would basically have to get 75k-100k to even match a scholarship offer from another school. Maybe that will happen but that doesnt seem like a great idea
