I’m not protecting him. I’m not sure but I think his kids are still in the area. Not sure how much they knew. He was fired at USC for a similar reason later. With your skills you should be able to figure out pretty quickly who it was. No need to publish his name again and cause his family any more angst. Let go in 2011
no MS coached at NU in 2011

pretty serious allegations to all of a sudden clam up about

These schools are really going to fly the women's soccer and softball teams from Oregon to New Jersey, or Seattle to Maryland? Just seems so stupid. I imagine it won't be long before the non-revenue sports become like club teams that mostly just play against other schools within driving distance.
I posed that same question a while back and apparently some of that already is going on with the minor sports in some of these expanded leagues. It seems ridiculous for UCLA to Rutgers in order to play a softball game in 40 degree weather when a flight to Arizona is 2000 miles less.

So somehow joining a slightly better version of the AAC or the Mountain West is the key to success?
Yeah GIF

Exactly. Left before the 2011 season.
I find zero results for Marvin Sanders, but does say he left for personal reasons

fired from USC along with the entire defensive staff in an overhaul

serious accusations. arrests are public record. where's the evidence?

Good for you. Do you want a medal? There are three long time rival schools within the Big 12 that are even closer.
who cares? Your complaint was that there were no games within driving distance. If you want to continue to move the goal posts, that is your issue. Tell me what the parameters are for your "rival schools within a certain driving distance" Then tell me how many are still in the Big 12.

Whoa serious claims you a flinging with zero supporting evidence. I found nothing on that. And don't tell me it was covered up if he was out at two different schools for it. And still coaching.

He coached at a high school, after he left Nebraska. So if the allegations are true, and were covered up by the school, then Nebraska is indeed a full fledge member of the Big Ten.

Serious question. Did you ever hear of any allegations? I never did. When he left Nebraska or fired at USC.

My understanding is that he made a decision to step outside the marriage and found himself engaged in a relationship with a Nebraska coed or 10. None were underage, they were just younger than he was. Was it "right" hell no, but it is far from molesting minors as was alleged by dingle

Guessing none were coerced in a clinical setting or otherwise against these women’s (allegedly) will, also

You know, the B1G way

I’m 65 but I don’t like to drive no more than 8 hours so Lafayette and Bloomington who be pushing it a bit with 10 hour drives..But yes it can be done with 2 drivers..
I think that there is "a days drive" and "that is not a bad drive"

Sure, we can all do 10-12 hour drives but that sucks.

I think for most of us "that is not a bad drive" is under 7 hours.

The drive to the road game is really not so much of the issue. You leave Friday morning, stop and get some lunch, start drinking in the car with your friends when you are like 3 hours from the hotel. Leave at 8sih in the morning, get to the hotel around 4ish, chill for a bit, then head out and eat/party.

The issue is the drive back on Sunday, when everyone just wants to get home. Driving back from Michigan to Omaha might as well have been like driving to the moon.

So the 7 hour drive gets you 5 schools for the Big 12: KU, KSU, CU, OSU, ISU. 3 for the Big 10: Iowa, Minn, Wisconsin.

Make it 8 hours and you add the Illinois schools and it's a wash.

So once again, people that have nostalgia for Big 12 road games are talking about the Kansas schools. Yawn.

What people haven't really talked about that would be a much better argument is November Big 10 road trips just aren't really desirable.

So I view road games a littler differently. I don't care all that much about who they are playing it is about the trip, the experience with my friends, goofing around, cracking jokes, talking about things from 20 years ago.

And it is much easier to create that experience when you have an easy drive. I mean, some of those Big 12 spots are under 4 hours from Omaha.

You can dis the Kansas schools all you want man, but that was a part of Nebraska's history. All of those Big 8 schools were part of Nebraska's history and a long history of games, including identity. You want to crap on all that? you are crapping on the program during all those good years too.

You're trying to compare teams from different conferences and say one is better than the other, or this is just as far as the other. It isn't about that.. it's about the ACTUAL history of the program. People's memories of those trips, the friends they hung out with, the people they met, it's about so much more.

Lol. Have you been to a game in Lawrence or Manhattan? They were the armpit of CFB. Total shitholes. The memories were from stomping them. Newsflash: we stopped stomping people a while ago.

Btw, those memories of road trips to Kansas to stomp those fools still exist in my mind. They didn't magically disappear because we switched conferences. Hopefully my kids can grow up with memories of traveling to Big 10 schools and watching the Huskers stomp Big 10 teams.

While I do agree with the fact that there are that many within 8 hours, this is going to be misleading now. With the new scheduling format there is no guarantees that you will even play all of those closer teams now.

lot's of B1G crapholes too..

you're not getting the point of what past history and identity meant..

KU was rarely ever going to beat NU.. we had a lot of history against that team, (and others).. and that was partly why we were successful. We had a history of beating those teams, and they knew they were going to get beat. That paid dividends to the team every year.

In the current conference, it's now the other way around.. thats what has happened with the mismanagement of the program by taking it to another conference.

It would have been the same in the Big 12 with Frost. KSU would have been beating us instead of Wisconsin. You remember the winning. We weren't going to win under Frost regardless of our conference.

Many of the memories of the KU and KSU games were because there was always seats available at those stadiums. Those were de facto home games from 1960 to when Snyder got things rolling for KSU and Mangino for KU. Same with Iowa St.

If you look at this years schedule, the road games

Minny: Drivable BUT on a Thursday night, lame, not a desirable trip
CU: Drivable BUT the 11am start is something that can/does impact road game destinations. Nothing like the main reason for going to a road game being over, by 3pm.
Illinois: Drivable but on a Friday night, lame.
MSU: Long *** drive
Wisconsin: Drivable and probably the best choice, if not CU.

Well, you couldn't have that entirely. Here's what it would look like...

Baylor
BYU
Central Florida
Cincinnati
Colorado
Houston
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Nebraska
Oklahoma State
TCU
Texas Tech
West Virginia

We'd be the only blue blood plus some pretty good cultural fit and some old rivalries restored. Pretty spare top to bottom though without Texas and OU in there.
I'd probably quit watching if that's what I had to look forward to. I'd much rather watch us play OSU, Michigan, PSU, UCLA, USC, Io_a, Wisconsin and possibly Oregon and Washington over those small time teams. No cred in Little 12 football.

I wasn’t doing cartwheels on the starting time in Boulder but I’m leaving on Wednesday and playing golf on Thursday and Friday, spending the night after the game and most likely celebrating a victory and watching other games during the late afternoon, head back home on Sunday which will be the worst part of the trip..

100% agree.

Frost was only able to beat teams from one single P5 conference - the weak B1G - during his tenure.

If we were still in the big 12 we may not have won a single conf game last year

To be honest, Frost was not successful against B1G teams. He had a losing record against conference opponents every year and we couldn't win the crappy West division even one time during his tenure. The only teams in the B1G that Frost had a winning record against were Rutgers and Maryland.

You could say that he had success against AAC teams during his tenure at UCF.

we started losing the day we entered this conference. Mike Riley sucked too..

actually, nobody has actually had the balls to run the ball like we used to.

Maybe Rhule will do that.

I know it's trendy to hate Minneapolis but 5 years ago if someone said we would open the season in Minneapolis for a night game, even on a Thursday, most people would be excited. Weather should be fantastic. And don't we basically start off the CFB season? ND vs navy the Saturday before then we kick off the next weekend.

One solution to this - LEAVE. Oh wait, what conference would want NU and its whopping 1.9 million state population. Ha Ha Ha Ha. You're getting your a$$es handed to you on the football field and just can't accept it
We're not getting trashed by the B1G teams because of your dominance, we're getting trashed because of coaching incompetency. This reared its ugly head in the big 12. With that said, I'd rather be in the B1G playing football than what I see in the Big 12's future. Going back there would be accepting mediocrity, and that's not who we are.

Early kick-off in Boulder may be a blessing - less time for the historically-bad CU crowd to get into form, and I'm expecting it to be worse than ever given how amped up they are on CP. Feels like a must-win game, especially if you are attending in person - Boulder is not a fun place to be after a NU loss.

Yeah, I went down to Lawrence many times - an entire wing of my family lives there and in the surrounding area. I always thought Lawrence was a great college town.
