Only watched one video-not tooo closely, but the one thing that stood out to me was that nobody looked out of place. Goldwire, Tucker, and O'Connel looked like they belonged. Jack also had a nice amount of rebounds. Any significant contribution from even just one of these guys totally fills out this roster. Not 15+ minutes a game or any big stat totals, but anything resembling or even approaching what Andre gave to the 2010 team ( hitting the occasional wide open jumber, defense, ball handling, rebounding) would be fantastic.

Really nice sequence where Bagley had the ball in the corner, tightly defended. Passed to Bolden in the Post. Quick initial move by Bolden to the basket with defender on his back. Bagley cuts baseline. Bolden immediately spots him and fakes pass to Bagley. Bolden then passes to Grayson who had spottedup outside the 3. Grayson drains it. Who do you guard there?! Who do you guard with two of Carter, Trent, or Duval also on the floor.

O'Connell is a goofy looking kid. But I love his confidence. I don't expect much PT from him after the first month or two of the season, but I hope he is good enough to prove me wrong.

I also think it is important for us to have another true PG option and Goldwire may give us that option.

I said the same thing last year and it didn't come to fruition. But we should have no worries down low this year. Should dominate the boards.

Very excited about this team.

Didn't say his game was goofy. Said he looked goofy. Not as a basketball player, but as a kid.
He did have a rather unique hairdo but he's just trying to keep up with other players uniqueness. The boy can shoot and he can jump like a jackrabbit also and he's pretty coordinated.

Sounds a lot like Grayson when he was a frosh....

One of the things that's so awesome about Duval is his length at the point guard spot. With a 6'9 wingspan, he should be able to really disrupt opposing guards on the defensive side of things.

Agreed. Do you double the post and leave Grayson/Trent wide open or do you get abused one-on-one by Bagley/Carter/Bolden? Decisions decisions for our opponents.

Yep and he's also not afraid to block shots off of the back of the board, either.

Bolden is going to have a break out year!

I was watching as he was hedging on defense and his ability to do that and recover is going to make us forget about how Okafor was abused in the pick and roll. Bolden moves his feet very well.

His contributions won't show in the stat sheet, but he will be an important contributor this year, especially if healthy. He's worked his butt off this summer to improve his game. He could've transferred when it was easy to do but he didn't. Very admirable, today, in my opinion.

I think Bolden has the potential to be the best defensive big-man in the country. He is awesome at getting out on the perimeter and hedging on picks.
On the offensive end though he is way behind Carter and Bagley.

I think he's gonna be our first guy off the bench.....

The goobers at RR have a thread discussing how absolutely "gay" and "embarrassing" Duke's CTC was. Such over the top hyperbole. Bragging about how they have Drake at theirs and Duke's is just terrible. No idea how a "cool afro American kid" could go to Duke. Unreal.

Bagley is a monster.
Carter's passing really surprised me. He had some SWEET interior passes.
Tre is gonna dunk on everyone this year.
Gary has so much swag it's ridiculous.
Alex's hair/dancing left a bit to be desired.

Yeah Alex wasn't busting any moves but he wasn't the only one. Jack, Vrank didn't scar up the floor either and Grayson didn't even try. Is there a pattern here. LOL. The only white guy that could dance all night was the world champion river dance guy. I thought he was gonna stomp a hole in the floor. Thought he was gonna dance all night. OFC

From what I've seen, theirs is better than ours, i can't lie. Fortunately enough guys that we're recruiting aren't swayed--enough anyway--by their Cal and Drake show.

To me, as a Duke fan I could not care less about other teams and their opening events. It means different things to different people, but if you care what RR says about CTC, you have your priorities wrong.

Maybe I’m overreacting, but I don’t think Grayson looked 100% right. He seemed slow and really struggled getting by his man, couldn’t get any separation to get shots off.

It was obvious he was deferring early and trying to get everyone involved, but the explosion that we consistently saw his FR and SO year wasn’t there. Again I’m probably overreacting, but he looked slow. He rained 3’s late in the scrimmage, but most of those were wide open looks created by others.

I think we had two different observations of that scrimmage then when it comes to Grayson. I thought he did a great job of just letting it come to him and take what is given. I didn’t see anything that was off about him and certainly not physically. I actually came away thinking he may have been the most impressive for how easy he made it seem.

Grayson looked much better compared to last year. In last year's CTC, he looked like he was trying way too hard to make a positive impact. Heck, he bout took out Amile for the season. I thought he looked relaxed and calm. You can tell this is his team this year. I can't wait to see it all unfold.

I instantly stop listening to anyone who uses the phrase “afro-American.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if Grayson cut out the reckless abandon at all cost, style of play. He loses about a year off of his career every time he hits the deck. Duke needs him calm, steady and consistent.
