Got a text just now that their network was updated to allow voice and data at the same time with a couple settings clicks on the phone. Just completed the process so I think I am good to go now. About time they got this done!

Be sure you are on the latest apple software with the latest cspire carrier settings. Then settings > cellular > cellular data and options > voice and data > LTE, voLTE ON.

On my first try it wouldn't let me do it and said for me to contact cspire support, but I restarted the phone and the second try got it.

Has that seriously never been an option? I don't use it too often with AT&T but it's pretty handy when I'm on the phone with somebody and need to search for something.

It worked for me. Thanks for the info on this! Ive used Cspire for years and while this wasnt a deal breaker, it was a frustrating limitation at times. I know a lot of Cspire customers that have asked about this so Im glad they finally fixed it.

There were a few times it sucked....

1. You were on the phone and waiting for an iMessage (unless you were on WiFi)
2. You were on the phone and needed the GPS to work

It’s still not letting me turn it on. My carrier settings and iPhone software are both up to date. I do have an 8+ though, so it might be too old to work with.

3. Working on something online that is way more important than a phone call and getting disconnected because of a phone call. I used my a lot as a hotspot and it sucked to constantly get booted offline because of calls. I'm Verizon now because of that issue, combined with really poor out of state performance.

It's not because they didn't want to sooner, it was an unfortunate relic of building out a CDMA network. Carriers that have always had this are all GSM because it supports that natively. Newer LTE (5G) technology has allowed CSpire to join in, finally because all voice is delivered over data networks.

This was the actual reason I left CSpire for Xfinity mobile last year. I contacted c spire about this and the reasoning I was told they didn’t have it was “the battery couldn’t handle it and could cause it to catch fire”. Honest to god what I was told. Phone bill has been way cheaper, glad to see they got it finally tho! Years behind on that measure.
