If Chatham plays down to UHigh's level things could get interesting! Chatham had no respect for UHigh last season and got their lunch handed to them... What Chatham team will we see this coming week?

The rat knows no ally... He's been seething since last year waiting his time. And then he waited an extra week and let SHS do his bidding for him. I believe he'd describe that himself as "cowardly." SHG has a complex. Always have. They loathe the success of their northern friends. And those northern friends won't let them in their club no matter how many titles SHG won... Inferiority is harder for some to accept. And nowadays, their savior is living his best retired life. The son is off hauling in trophies at a real 4A school. And he's left supporting a once great 6A that's now in 4A because, well, lack of success. It's them slumming it down here with us, not the other way around. Someday he'll wake up and remember him and his program are better than this. But it won't be today. He won't tell you this, but he wanted us here... Big brother doesn't like when you don't endorse his favorite football team with every post. Should have known someone from his generation would be too soft to handle a little criticism from lil bro... It'll give him something to chat about at his infamous (his words) corner parties.
And by the way, he's upset because I listed him as one of the locks in 4A, alongside Morris, Rochester, and Montini. Then I proceeded to say I personally felt Montini/Morris v. Rochester was my pick for 4A. That's all it took. And now he's officially the softest poster on any On3 thread...

All.... Speaking of soirees or tailgates it never fails when hanging out in the Memorial Stadium parking lot. That used to be tailgate central but now only down to one in the tiny parking area.... mine.. The tent is up as well as the flag. North Grand is a racing speedway next to the stadium. And the first honk comes with shouts of go SHG! It's only a matter of time though like every year until several more honks occur with the middle finger salute . It gets a laugh as always while everyone is waitng for the chilli dogs cooking on the grill to be ready. Partie deux of the story which always happens arrives next. Here come the street people for a bite to eat and a soda pop. I always bring extra expecting just that. Gotta love the north end. Ratsy
All.... The big one SHS @Jacksonville. Senators win it they are in and don't have to fret with SHG, Rochester, and Chatham to finish up the regular season. This is even a more important game for the Crimsons. If they can defeat SHS that's four and not going out on a limb here I really like their chances in week nine against Lincoln. I would pour everything I could come up with next Friday in Jacksonville. Ratsy

All..... Now "short stuff" still butt hurt from from that embarrassing loss in front of the home town fans Friday evening. Basic football fundamentals aren't hard to develop. Find someone that knows how to teach them. Still this fascination with my corner.... Shangri-La. Raider fans who I met grilling and having a good time ( before your team received a beat down) next to my little gathering were whooping it up. Actually a fun group. They had picked up Father from Decatur who hails I believe from the Quincy area. They were all doing the Natty dance. For one that's taking a vow of poverty a bit too far. Natty ugh.
Irony once again talking footballl history. The Raiders will never sniff a state final much less a dozen. But after 50 years QND still has more wins then losses in the postseason. (30-28) That's a goal to keep working hard and striving for. Congrats! Raiders had a chance playing 2A last year to go a bit farther. Not that even in that class though you would of made it to ISU. But alas one the most dimwit decisions of all time going for a score and not kicking a field goal prevented a win. Oh my it's so windy. lol Work more on sound play calling.

The Jesuit in the thread would kindly request both of the Catholic schools pipe down please. SHG is going to lose twice to Rochester this year (game 9 & semifinals). QND is going to lose twice to SHG this year (game 4 and quarterfinals). That is if 4A maintains its upper enrollment of 917...which is unlikely. And thus saves QND from losing twice to SHG and SHG from losing twice to Rochester.

All.... The State Journal Register does an after game article covering several city and area football teams every Monday. One of the schools mentioned in the paper was SHS. They didn't give names but did mention four Senators were out when they played at QND Friday because of the incident that happened with Spartan players that led to ejections for a grand total of nine on the week four game between the two. Embarrassing? Lol grandpa, we aren't embarrassed even 1 oz... we just lost to a 6A playoff team at a school with barely 375 kids. What's your excuse for looking like a 1A pedestrian program against Lanphier? What's the excuse for being underdogs to an actual 4A program within your own conference? Play calling? Sounds awfully similar to an excuse... Sounds like perhaps you've got the coaching situation all wrong.
And for what it's worth, after the look John Allison gave the 1450 cameras post game against QND last season, we all knew he wasn't the man for the job. But you already knew that... a failing product of the mighty KL...
The difference remains, and you're quick to point it out usually, that QND isn't even supposed to be on the field with SHG... let alone be 1-1 all time against them to this point, we're punching well above our weight. You're only even a concern in the playoffs for us because of your abysmal past two seasons. Both coached by Mr. Allison of course. You remember him right? The one with the mouth-breather look after the same QND sent you back to your truck at half last year? Although now we know that may have been withdrawal symptoms you were feeling... Regardless, it'll never be a situation of us feeling anything less than proud for even competing here. With the current Outlook posted this morning, Benton's addition to the 4A bracket in the Southern half, it looks like QND will NOT go 0-2 against the Cyclones this year as they are currently in the Northern bracket by a sliver of latitude. I had to look this up. QND at 39.91 degrees latitude, SHG at 39.80 latitude. 0.11 degrees of latitude saves QND from a 2nd loss to SHG. LOL

I've always respected the hell out of SHG and it's football program. You've witnessed at least some of the public displays of affection from time to time. Zion for quality of opponent, proximity as they are in the same county as MacArthur & Ike, and enrollment to further provide no opportunity for excuses on financial stability, size of school, and travel. If Mt. Zion played every team in the CS8, their only predictable losses would Rochester, SHG, and Chatham. Not trying to start anything, but I think that anyone who is paying attention to SHG will agree that the overall talent level is no where near where it has been in the past. There are good players working hard, never forget that these are 16 and 17 year old kids. As far as the coaching staff, hats off to the guys who stuck around and didn’t bail knowing what was in the pipeline. We have to remember that there were no state championships until Coach Allison came on board and I hear he is a great science teacher also. Just some thoughts

And for Coach Allison... good luck. Expectations won't change... even if his kids aren't what they used to be. And his record is still abysmal, for their standard. No way around it. Sugar coat it all you like, but he's not doing well. And he'll remain an underdog to the 2 programs with all the steam right now... neither named S, H, or G...

And in the stroke of luck only the IHSA can provide....SHG now sits in 5A, saving the Adams County Raiders from a losing streak against the Cyclones in the 2025 season. Buuuuuut, it does provide the Rockets an opportunity to show you how pretty the new lights are as we run up and down the field scoring at will. Now, of course, you won't get to relive your peak years of 2004. As Rochester has outclassed the red headed catholic step child of the west side of the state in the 4 matchups since.
