I know since Nate A left as coach of Central they have not had the same environment. Reading about the team a few weeks back, Central was hoping for the 5 win mark but that may be tough to reach. First game is NOT a accurate view of a team but giving up 41 (and should've been more) is a terrible result. Much to work on for what's coming!!!

How did you keep up with the game? Radio or YouTube?
Everything I’d read and watched suggested this game wouldn’t even be close. I’ll admit it, I expected a blowout too, just like last year’s score. After what they showed last night, I think they can find a way to win five games. But if they don’t get their defense figured out, it’ll be tough. Hard to believe you can put up 41 points and still lose.

Glenwood is not playing well but Edwardsville got a homer call that I did not see. Another USL penalty! But an interception by the Titans... Karma balanced the bad call! Titans return it for 50 yards to the Tigers 38. A dead ball penalty on the Tigers. First down at the 32.

Another phantom call for Edwardsville. PF face masking...

2 plays later... 47 yard TD run down the middle of the Titan defense by the Tigers... 2 point conversion on a fake.

Tigers fumble the punt with the Titans recovering at the Tiger 40. The next play Titans 40 yard TD run!
Titans go for 2 and get it with a QB keeper. Cheap shot by the Tigers that the official just watched without pulling the flag! WTH!

Titans have a long, time consuming drive and score on a TD run. It seems like the fight has left the Tigers in the 4th quarter.

Titans going for 2 again... Not trusting the XP... no good!

Tigers at the Glenwood 1 yard line after long TD pass... Not sure how you let a receiver get behind you but... 2 plays later the Tigers use a Linebacker for a 1 yard TD run.

Titans 39
Tigers 31

Close to 3 minutes left

All.... Cycs get pounded in town tonight by CBC. I have only seen one team with a player I deem to have "elite speed." A player from Indianapolis Cathedral when SHG played them in town many years ago. The Cadets had three at RB, QB, and WO. Difficult at best to cover all three with no break outs. Throw in 11 big boys at 260 or better three of them at 300 or better and it's going to likely be a rough night. Cycs offense after about a quarter went one dimensional. They couldn't run against not only the big boys on the line but the big db's that were firing in and stuffing up lanes. Having said that their performance wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Unfortunately one of the main concerns coming into this game was would they get out of it injury free. Nope.... And they were a bit banged up to start the game. On to Mascoutah.... Good night one and all.... Ratsy

All Finals
Streator 36 Eisenhower 14
East Peoria 47 Southeast 13
MacArthur 20 Mattoon 0
Lanphier 18 Lincoln 14. Lanphier's 1st win since 2022.

Chatham 39 Edwardsville 31
This started out like each team might score in the 40's. The Titans led at halftime 25-24. Chatham's Big 3 of QB Knoedler, RB Mueller, and WR Lehnen were all excellent. Knoedler does everything you'd expect from a 3-year starter, Mueller was bottled up much of the game but still popped a big 40-yard TD at a key time and had some other tough carries when the Titans were trying to run clock, and Lehnen had multiple big catches and both a receiving and rushing TD. The Defense held the Tigers to a single score in the 2nd half and had 2 INT's. Special teams were rocky, missing 2 XP's, a snap issue ruined a 3rd XP, and a long snap out of the end zone cost them a safety. A questionable onside kick recovery gave the Tigers a chance to tie with 2 minutes or so left but a 4th and long pass to the end zone was well defended and just missed connecting with Edwardsville's 6'5" WR.

WOW... The Titan special teams give up an onside kick...

Tigers ball at the Titan 48!
From my angle, looked like it never went 10 yards before being touched by a Tiger. Chatham bench very unhappy after a ref huddle gave E'Ville the ball.

Coach Hay was not pleased with the officiating multiple times, and there were some weird play stoppages and hesitation to make calls throughout.

Caught 2nd half of MacArthur game last night. I had gone to Warrensburg-Latham with my bro-in-law and it was 3-0 at half... he mentioned the transfer RB that went from Ike to Mac, so we headed into Soy City... 20-0 when we arrived, 11:32 on the clock 3Q... We may have been the curse bc we didnt see a single TD in either game we attended :ROFLMAO: Regardless, the RB looks the part. He's quick, but mostly shifty. His O-line will need to keep working for him, they struggled.

One quick note... Mac's QB #8 (never did get a name) left on a cart with an apparent leg injury in 2nd half. He did not return.

I was coached by a Illinois Hall of Fame coach (another dinosaur) ... the QND coach seems like a damn good coach. Im sure he's more... animated...off camera... but I have a lot of respect for what he believes. It would be interesting to watch him at practice!
Jack Cornell is an excellent man, sir. We are very grateful he returned home to coach his alma mater.
Three-year starter at Illinois, Beef bowl champion (Rose Bowl 2008), Super Bowl XLVII Champion, husband and father of 2. He won't likely brag on himself like this, so I'll do it for him! 😁
