I am still on the fence with Jacksonville vs Highland but am agreeing with all your other picks.
I had a few games circled as "toss ups"
Jax v. Highland - Highland is usually pretty good. Jacksonville is usually average to good most years. Passing game, if it's the same, is why I gave the nod to Highland.
Lanphier v. Lincoln - Idk what Lincoln brings back
Mac v. Mattoon - Again, Idk what Mac has to offer yet. Most years I'd say Generals with ease.
SE v. EP - SE has a 2nd yr HC, for once.

All.... Been crunching enrollment numbers and possible postseason class designations for teams. With recent Ihsa changes and private school waivers going away for many of those schools movement into another class is going to happen. A bunch....
One possibility is the Titans with an enrollment of 1400 dropping down into class 5A when the qualifiers are announced. Possible but not a sure thing yet. They have a very strong team. In the top three of all time. They could do some serious damage in the 5A playoffs. One would assume the other likely 5A heavy hitters St. Francis, Prairie Ridge, Cary Grove, would end up in the northern bracket of 16 leaving the Titans a favorite in southern bracket and making the state final. A very attractive scenario. Batavia and likley St. Rita making the jump up into 7A look to be north also.
Here is the quandry for them. They have by September first to make a decision. If they beat Edwardsville this Friday in a convincing way would they entertain thoughts of playing up into class 7A? As good as this team is I don't believe unless they drop into class 5A and avoid the Flyers they can beat ESTL in class 6A. Both teams as has happened in the past will be in the southern bracket of 16. Take the sure thing or gamble getting into 5A? Something to think about. Ratsy

All.... Weather at the moment looks very favorable for games in and around the Springfield area. A high of 78. Winds at eight. Of course with all the turf field available rain outs are far and few. Lightning and thunder delays are about the only issue that can stop a game for a period of time per Ihsa rules. Ratsy
