You seem like kind of a miserable person.
Nah. Recruiting commentary is quite amusing. They are clickbait sites that make some guys some $. Coaches don’t use them for evals...but we’ve got a bunch of fans(posters) that don’t get that. Just having some fun fellas...we are unstoppable in the off season!

Lol. So recruiting sites are clickbait, huh? Then somebody tell every national champ this century that their top ranked classes had nothing to do with talent.

I will grant you that it’s more of an art than a science, but to consider this some huge con to get fans’ money is far from the truth as well. They have to do their homework, otherwise the fans would stop paying up once it became clear that they were clueless and just trying to make a buck.

Just don’t get the need some have on here to diminish recruiting news. Just don’t get it.

Technically you’re right. The coaches I know and stay in touch with have their grunts checking them for surveillance of their offers, but not one single iota for evaluation. And, they put ZERO credence in what a site ranks a kid. ZERO, ZERO,ZERO. I still have past colleagues at several B1G schools, one PAC 12, one in the SEC

When I was in the game the profession we had Tom Lemmings Super prep. It was good for stating the obvious on some, and utterly comical on many more. Sorry guys, same is true for *s now.

Seems to be working on you, member since 2001.

I take rankings with a grain of salt. I also recognize the teams who win are typically the ones loaded with 4- and 5-star talent, as judged by recruiting sites and teams alike.

Oh smell the coffee. Talent is obvious and dang near perpetual at those places, long before the internet. And, the *s frequently move when certain places offer.

staff sizes haven grown to scan the internet, they have grown to watch mountains of game tape.

our friends in Lincoln from Hudl and the guys at MaxPreps have made things easier for staffs....they pour over a lot and do their own evaluations.. NCSA can too, but only for families that can afford it. That gets tape in front of staffs, not the stuff us fans can see.

some programs will look to see who else has offered, and then offer...those are the lazy and less successful ones

I seriously don’t use this site to see what teenager might come to the 2 programs I cheer for...I enjoy it for fan interaction, coaching discussion, X and O, and entertainment. Couldn’t really tell you about any teenager. However I did see Frost pheasant hunted with some recruit....but that was in the OWH, not here

I think we’re talking past each other a bit. I don’t doubt that evals that coaches do aren’t simply pulling up rivals videos. They beat the bushes and put on thousands of miles to see in person what all the fuss is about when they hear of certain players.

That being said, I still don’t think recruiting sites are clueless. Are you suggesting that if we end up with a top 20 class it could easily be outside the top 40 in reality? Because I don’t see it that way.

then why are you here? Why do you have a username on this board and talking to us? Again, this is a recruiting site. If you’re not down with the recruiting part of things, then you’re on the wrong board. Oh wait, I get it. This is positive stuff and you can’t flip into something bad...so instead you down play it. I feel you...
Pretty much every message board dealing with Husker football has a recruiting focus. I'm mostly interested in discussing the games. I do follow recruiting too, but it's much less of a priority for me. The excitement gets kind of lost when so many of the recruits we've gotten recently are gone in 1 or 2 years or never end up living to expectations.

FYI guys, coaches do their own evaluations. They don’t rely on a third party company to do their work for them. This may be the revaluation of my life. I had no idea that a college coach wouldn’t just take Rivals word on the evaluation.

I would suggest the difference between 1-10 is pretty inconsequential. As is 10-40ish. It starts to separate around 10.

There are many, many really good FB players. Outside of the obvious ones to everyone, there are countless other variables. That’s why games are close, and the difference b/w 2 loss teams and 4 loss teams is slight

Hopefully we find a few Lavonte David jucos this year because it seems we are going to be signing a lot. Not the best sign in your third recruiting class.

Considering the first recruiting class has imploded, it makes sense to fill with hopefully high caliber jucos.
