Kind of surprised that there is almost zero news from over the weekend. Thought we might pick up another commitment or two. I assume its a dead period now until signing day.
I will hand it to JoMo on the recruiting front. He gets the guys committed and for the most part, they stay that way. Couldn’t say that under Mullen. A lot of that could have to do with early signing period too. But the only guy to really watch on Wednesday looks like the CB our of Luisiana. February will have 4* LB Edgerrin Cooper. Other than that I think we are trying to get an OL and a transfer WR
I think much of the quietness comes from the early signing day. Used to be a lot more drama when February was the first and last chance to get your guys, now if a guy is on the edge he'll probably wait to sign. Remember the night before Leo Lewis signing how dramatic that was.
Oh I do.... For me the Chris Jones recruitment was the most dramatic. All the way up to him announcing it. I remember people losing there minds when he showed up wearing a plain white t shirt.
Of the 21 commitments, we’re anticipating 20 to sign Wednesday. That’s huge and will give Moorhead the opportunity to only focus on filling the remaining 5-6 spots.
Not much noise on the flipmas front. The only current OM commit we are targeting is Acker, but he comes from a big OM family so we never had a real shot.

The only current commit that should give us some anxiety is Malik Heath. Apparently Mullen & Co are still after him pretty hard

No Chance on Acker, see tweet from today if you disagree. I wish we had a chance on McKinley Jackson but word is he has never considered us. Would love to sign someone out of left field that boosts us up the charts but just don't see much on the board as even a remote possibility of a flip.
I have to give him credit for our recruiting not having the usual drama we've had in the past and the fact he really seems to target good OL prospects. We should see effects of this in the coming years in place of our previous lean times every other year.
All things considered this will be impressive if we pull in a top25 class this year. The instate talent & MSU connections were not in our favor:

1. McKinley Jackson - never considered us. Idk the whole story, but we were never in it. Doesn't sound like or Moorhead or Mullen thing, but a MSU thing.
2. Emmanuel Forbes - commit
3. Josiah Hayes - Was interested in us for awhile, but apparently we had Armondous Cooley higher on our board and never pursued that hard
4. Jeremiah Pegues - Oxford High. Enough said.
5. Lideatrick Griffin - commit
6. Jakiuvian Brown - former commit, all rebel now.
7. Alex Adams - Juco bound is rumor
8. Eli Acker - huge rebel family

Makes you wonder why Florida has to come to a Miss JUCO to recruit. They have plenty of talent where they are. I think it is Laziness on their part.
I'm hoping we get Cooper and Xavier Hill. We supposedly are in a good position for both. Decamerion will be a WR for us.
That's exactly what it is. He's being a dick and picking on someone he thinks he can bully, because he can't get it done in his own backyard, the most fertile recruiting ground in the country for wide receivers. He should never have to come up here to get a wide receiver, even one they have a previous relationship with. Plus Heath likes drama, so I'm sure he's keeping those lines of communication open.
Mullen has no loyalty, dignity, moral compass or anything like that. I know he doesn't have to, but if I were in his shoes, I would have left all MSU commitments and recruits alone unless they reached out to me or they specifically were already Florida targets. It's just good optics. It's a good move considering you just left a school for a better one and subtly communicated that you were too good for that school. So theoretically you shouldn't have to steal recruits from the smaller school you just spurned. Honestly, at this point, I don't see why any MSU fan looks fondly at Mullen. I sure don't. I mean, f*ck that guy.
It happens, coaches move on, etc. I get it. But you don't have to screw your former school over by raiding our commitment list (or trying, because ultimately he wasn't a good recruiter). That's just being a dick, which Mullen specializes in being.

According to 247 he has verbally committed to LSU but they still have him 100% MSU. Not sure what they are basing that on but he is a hell of a guard. I'm hoping they are correct.
Unfortunately, the ship has sailed on Hill. Unless LSU takes back their offer he is Baton Rouge bound.

All that means is that all the pundits predicted him to go to MSU at some point. The last one was 11-18. He committed to LSU a week after that.
I must be wrong about Decamerion Richardson. I could swear I saw him projected at WR for us but can not find it again. He is a track star. Nice 100 meter times.

I know for a fact that their boosters are all in again. Trust me. They’ll say “Kiffin is a great recruiter” when they start pulling some out of state talent, but history says lane Kiffin is not a great recruiter. They’re already getting out of state all Americans who didn’t even have ole miss in their top 10 visiting campus. They pay them to visit then once they’re on campus they get girls From Danny’s to hook up with them. That’s how they get players. I can assure you those Escort services found on Hugh Freeze phone were not for Hugh. But if he admits to orchestrating hookers for 17 year olds then he goes to prison.
I don’t think Kiffin wants to take a chance on a show cause.... Ole Miss is just a stepping stone for him and he needs to be squeaky clean

Amazing to have so much wrong info in such a small post. Hill is 100% to LSU. Decamerion is being recruited as a DB. And we have a very small chance at signing Cooper. Less than 10%.
Picking and choosing stats to suit your argument. I can do that too. The rating for the #25 player in MS is about equal to the #27 player in MS last year (remember, the GREATEST MISSISSIPPI CLASS EVAHHH). Since we have so many of those guys, stands to reason that we've got a lot of really good players right?
Oh yeah, and our class is ranked in the top 25. That's pretty good and stuff, with very few bums, if any.

3 of the top 10, by the way. And of course, the ratings are always swayed toward bigger school offers. Which really goes wrong in a state like MS.

The network is and has been, in full prime time operation! We're not a fear to them; Bama is and with the rif between Saban and Freshwater, they will choose a lot more "wisely" on who they chase after this go around. They take one from Bama while Saban is there, get ready. I expect they'll probably get Jackson and you'll hear it from the mountaintop that Fresh is the man. That's fine! Let it go. We didn't get into that ring due to "other" things that we didn't want to participate with (see L. Tunsil's recruitment). We know how that will pan out.
We've got a great class and looks like we should have up to 21 early enrollees, should everything pan out grade wise. That's incredible!!! We had 12 last year. That's extra practicing for these newbies and trust me, it helps!!

We have a good class this cycle. It doesn't matter who the coach is at MSU this year, we were never getting more than 4 kids in the top 10. Just how it works
I don't follow recruiting, so I'm genuinely asking. Why is us writing off Oxford High "just how it works" when they don't have to do the same for Starkville High?
That's the thing about recruiting. Anything can be said at this point and there's no definitive proof either way.
My take is that we have 0 outside WR's committed from the high school ranks. Heath in the only guy coming that is expected to make an impact next year. Huge hole on our roster.
We only have 2 OL committed and one is a pretty big reach. Need at least 1 more guy and really 2. What about all that class balance we hear about?
1 HS LB committed and he was under evaluation for a long time. 1 Juco DL from California that is a weird signee in my opinion. Another scholarship signee on a transfer kicker.
