Veazey's blog:

<font face="Georgia" size="2">Croom, joking on the benefit of his linebackers coach, Louis Campbell, being a former Arkansas assistant: Hes's given us name rank and serial numbers on every player there." OK, seriously, though: "He can tell us about their guys, and from a coaching standpoint ... he emphasizes what you think or may correct what you may think on film. ... But, ultimately, it comes down to players making plays on the field."</font>

that statement is accurate. It ultimately comes down to the players making plays on the field. Jackie said that in just about every interview.

Even in the glory years, he deflected credit and pointed at the players. Win or lose he always said it was the players that made the plays or didn't make the plays on the field.

Yeah, I know what he meant, but it still gets under my skin. I'm just used to him blaming the players every game and that quote is just saying, "If we lose, it's because they players didn't do what they were supposed to and has nothing to do with my coaching."

As much as I hate Croom, the statement is correct. Croom isn't out there playing the game.

/ESPN said he was the starting center
//It's amazing they let an assistant coach suit up for them. The Bear was a cheater.

right now there are close to 30 responses and not even one picks MSU to win at home against a lower-tier SEC team.

......about the "importance" of such a win, considering we have a losing season in the bag already, but I honestly see us beating Arkansas. They have the worst defense in the SEC, it's our senior day, and the pressure is off our team because there's no hope for a winning season or bowl game now. Of course I realize Arkansas is still fighting for bowl eligibility, but our motivation will be to prevent them from getting there. We will win. Hell, our offense may even rack up 30+ points.

Save this post. I'll eat crow if I'm way off.

We've beaten Arkansas exactly one time in the last umpteen years. Go back and watch the video of that final drive. We were converting 4th downs, our star RB was hurt, we nailed a game ending field goal, and ended up in Atlanta for the SEC title game. Face it, those things just don't happen to us very often. Aside from that our history versus the Hogs doesn't give me much hope for a win this weekend.
