Creighton looked good against the Zags. They may be a bit underestimated this year unfortunately Nebraska is going to have to hope they go cold from behind the arc to have a chance. Man I hate to say that

Nebraska plays defense. Why we have lost to Creighton the last few years is because we simply can’t score. They pack the paint and dare us too shot jumpers.

Zags are good but giving up 62 points in a half is really really bad. Nebraska will be 6-8 point favs next Saturday I’m guessing. Time to get it done.

I think NU has the edge in talent this year, though not by a wide margin. Creighton doesn't really have a post player that will make Roby labor in the paint, which is a plus for Nebraska. But as usual, Creighton has better ball movement. Looking like a good matchup, really.

Not sure about that.

Creighton isn’t a shut down defensive team, so they try to outscore every opponent. Gonzaga was the #1 team in the country and they score the ball. Creighton had no chance in that game when Gonzaga started to hit shots.

Against Nebraska, with all due respect to the offensive genius that is Tim Miles, Creighton can struggle from the field and still be in the game.

Close game, but if either team gets to 70, Creighton is winning. IMHO.

I can't stand them, but after watching them play gonzaga I don't see Nebraska beating them this year either.

It was good to see the Zags beat Creighton. Living here in Eastern Washington I follow the Zags pretty close. Few runs a great program.

NU should matchup well with Creighton to limit their treys but we will have to make some jumpers. Just like with most teams that threaten to keep it close with us.

Before we get too hung up on Creighton, we have two more important games to play in conference before we think about next Saturday..

Huskers are 11 point favorite today against Illinois..

11 seems like 3-4 points too high. Despite their record this is not a terrible Illini team.

I watched them play earlier in the week. When I quit watching they were 100% from the field including I believe 8/8 from 3 ptrs. My thought was how come everyone else can hit 3's and we can't. We are flat out atrocious from beyond the arc.

That’s the best part for us fans, we can look ahead. Just as long as the players and Miles DON’T. ;)

Creighton never shoots well in Lincoln. The games in Lincoln are almost always grind it out. They have won recently in Limcoln, because we have shot worse. If the guys shoot average, Tim should finally get his win over McDermott. If we shoot above-average, should be comfortable win.

3 questions.

Define “Never shoots well”?

You consider 3 double digit wins (average margin 14 points) grinding them out?

How far back in history did you go to come to your conclusion?

2016
51% from field 33.3% from 3, 15 point CU win.

2014
47.1% from field 43.5% from 3, 10 point CU win.

2012
46%% from field 47.1% from 3, 18 point CU win.

You know why this point is completely irrelevant?

2012-13 - Nebraska finished 14-18
2014-15 - Nebraska finished 13-18
2016-17 - Nebraska finished 13-19

This 2018-19 Husker squad is going to win 25+ games, and has one of the top defenses in the country according to every statistical metric. They've also won 21 of their last 22 home games.

I think Creighton is going to be great over the next two seasons, but next Saturday, Nebraska is going to kick their ***.

So in other words Nebraska had typical seasons based on their history.

Going to kick Creighton’s *** huh? Kind of like they were going to make the dance last year? I hope Nebraska wins. I’ll be ecstatic with a 1 point victory.

It's at home and we have the nation's longest winning streak at the Vault. We are light years faster in team speed as well as have an extremely stingy defense. We'll win. You are giving the Jays way too much credit here. My prediction is, we're gonna blow them off the court as we now have a team that can seriously deal with them.

One thing that bodes well for us is that Creighton has no inside game. The Big Ten teams that have good inside players are going to give us fits this year.

You think this current team is pretty much a historically common team by Nebraska's standards?

It should be an interesting contrast in styles and teams in this game.

Nebraska has a lot of experience, but not much depth. Creighton is young, but with a lot of depth (they can play 10 or even 11 in a pinch)

Nebraska has a much better D, Creighton's D is disguised by their pace sometimes, but they are still not ever a lock down D.

Nebraska struggles to get into sets and move the ball. Creighton's young guys can go in and out on that, but when they move the ball they are tough to stop offensively - and Alexander can get his own shot when needed

Nebraska lacks inside presence, Creighton has 3 big men but generally plays 4 guard sets (1 of the bigs is a true frosh, the other a soph). I expect to see some sets with 2 of them on the floor if the game turns into a grind it out game - wonder if Copeland and Martin saw each other in the Big east?

Should be a good game

Who will control pace? Will Creighton play with enough pace to make depth an issue?

Will the defensive pressure from the experienced G's and Wings for Nebraska force Creighton's younger guys into mistakes (especially if they control the pace and make it a half court battle?)

No you didn't.
Not from you. But there are a couple of mouth-breathing goobers here who predict an NU blowout year after year after year and are still waiting to breathlessly declare how they "nailed it!"

I agree with you in that I think Nebraska wins this year, though I think it will likely be a close game.

Soooooooo. I say it all the time, I will cheer for the team that I think benefits most from the win. I think they both benefit from the win, but Im cheering for the Huskers this year. I think they may actually have a shot at the tourney this year, and a win vs the Jays will help in March.

That said, its gonna be a tough game for both teams. Could be fairly high scoring, and if it is, I kinda think the Jays win, as I think they have a more balanced offense. If you look position by position, I think the Huskers are better at every position, but the Jays bench is way better.

I don't think they believed it though. I actually believe Nebraska is going to dominate Creighton next weekend.
