McDermott can flat out coach. Yes. I am N 1st and root for Creighton when they aren't playing Big Red.
Happy for the Bluejays.
Hope they beat Gtown.

Not the Jays’ best game but glad they won. Beat Georgetown and they might slide into a #4 seed, but would need some other teams to stumble.

My Huskies had an off night, partly due to Creighton. But of course it’s great to be back in the BE after exile in the American. Football team is Indy now and will play some boat race games for $$$ and try to assemble a winning record and go bowling.

Yeah good move for UConn. Better fit in the Big East and wayyyyyyy better TV exposure.

I would rather Creighton not be in the 4/5 slot. That's where they will be though

Should be interesting final game. They split the regular season series and Georgetown has a pronounced advantage in size. This game can’t help the Bluejay seed , only hurt it.

Uh, Coach - if you're seriously going to play Jack Canfield in this game, how about not using him with a bunch of other subs?

From Chapter 1 of The Big Book of Basketball Coaching:

Q: We're playing a big underdog, and at the beginning of the game they can barely hit the rim and can't find their butt with both hands. Should I just leave my starters in and try to build a big lead?

A: Absolutely not! You MUST pull your starters at the designated time, even if your backup PG is out and you have to play an NAIA player in his place. Do NOT mess with The Big Book - ever!

georgetown: picked to finish last in BE pre-season, looking like they're going to win the conf tourney and go dancing

NU: picked to finish last in B1G pre-season, actually finished last in B1G

Some serious basketball gods shining down on G-town throughout this tournament. What a way to make the tourney

Don't blame the basketball gods for Jett Canfield getting minutes in a conference championship game. That decision had to come straight from the bowels of Hell.

This is a well-deserved ***-whipping. If you're blockheaded enough to yank your starters just as they are starting to build a good lead against an underdog team, you deserve to lose.

Of course maybe Georgetown heats up and wins this game anyway - that's entirely possible. But basketball is a game of momentum and I'll be damned if I'm handing it to my opponent by inserting a JV squad, when my starters have barely even broken a sweat.

This is an absolute dismantling. The Hoyas were 3-8 in early Jan and shutdown for over 20 days. Came back an entirely different squad. Tremendous credit to Patrick Ewing. They have an awesome class coming in too. Mutombo’s kid and another 5 star. Georgetown mattering is great for college basketball.

I also think this shows how horrible the Big East is.

Great defense by the Hoyas to not give the Jays the open looks they always knock down. Mahoney was 1-13, Bishop and Jefferson were 2-14. Only Zegs came to play.

Agreed, that was beyond stupid. I still think they get boat raced either way. G-town was getting hands on everything and Creighton was as cold as a Mike Riley popsicle.

Yeah that’s possible, but Georgetown was absolutely awful up until the McDermott brain fart. College BB coaches just can’t seem to resist trying to show everyone how brilliant they are instead of letting players play.

Maybe...but GT beat the **** out of CU twice this year. GT has 13 wins. 2 are vs the Jays.

Probably just means the Jays suck vs G.

just to be clear, im glad they lost because im not a fan of theirs.
i felt bad mcdermott.
I don't feel bad for McDermott at all. Sometimes there are consequences for saying incredibly stupid things. In his case the consequences were really minor. What possessed him to say what he did is a mystery that will never be credibly explained.

How’s Nebraska doing?

Also not going to win a NC...so...exactly the same as CU.

This is where Jay fans get all lame.

NO ONE CARES if you don't win it all..

I am an Illini fan. They will get a 1 seed this year (Great, don't care), they will probably make the second weekend (Great, don't care), if you don't win it all...you are the same as NU this year.

But, but... then how can the Blowhard Ten be the greatest most fantabulous conference on Planet Earth when it hasn’t won a national title in more than 20 years?

I get that Creighton fans probably have an inflated view of the program, but it’s nothing compared to the gasbagging the Big Ten has mastered.

No it isn't.
