Crazy weather in Chicago

Not a fan of cramming onto our safe space. Looking like straight line winds are the biggest threat here, but local TV teams are thinking number of tornados may rival most ever.

Ah, sorry. Standard overstatement of the weather crews, IMO. I saw no footage of tornado damage this morning (good) despite them saying they had live spotters on top of up to ten twisters. We did spend 30 minutes under the stairs and landing that exits the basement. With poured foundation on two sides, and some really sturdy stairs above it’s tight but safe.

I can’t believe someone with a basement would freak out about some mere “gusts”.

Ha ha. If it were just me …

Lower level is only about 42” below grade, so it still has some exposure, but the same fact makes those stairs pretty rigid.

You can't get an accurate two day forecast, but they sure know what the climate is going to be in 50 years it seems. :rolleyes:
