Smith is going to get a P5 job soon. He's about to take a team of mostly white Mormon dudes to the NCAA tourney in his first year there.

I’m afraid even if Moos wanted him he’d say no.

He's only making $650k at Utah State. No way he would turn down $2-3 million/year.

However, I think there's no chance Moos will hire a Tim Miles protege. There obviously some hard feelings between Moos and Miles. But I could see Smith ending up at Minnesota (his home state) if they fire Pitino.

The thought of him going to Minn really depresses me.

Also, Omaha Central grad Tre'Shawn Thurman has 21 points and 10 rebounds for Nevada. Another legit in-state kid that Miles didn't recruit.
Did you catch what the altercation was with the Utah State players was in the hall after the game? I couldn't hear any sound on the video. The idea that Utah State is just a bunch of slow white Mormon kids is obviously not correct.

Oh it was the Nevada player that blew up. I was watching out of the corner of my eye on a small TV and thought it was the Utah St players that were acting like imbeciles. Makes more sense now. Can't remember if I was still at a bar when I saw that or after I got home. Whiskey eyes.

It's funny how teams get up for big games, then have a letdown. Utah State will win tonight, but they are struggling against a terrible Colorado State team in front of a small gathering of friends and relatives in Fort Collins.

I know the reality is people have hard feelings when they're fired. But it's hard to understand objectively why Miles would have hard feelings.

They may not win....down by 2 with 1:30 to go. Interestingly, Colorado State is also coached by a former Tim Miles assistant, Niko Medved.

Smith was the X’s and O’s guy, we haven’t had a clue offensively since he left.

This is factually incorrect. If smith is the x's and O's guy then why has our offensive effeciency gone up 100 spots in the rankings on avg since he left?

Did u forget we blew a 17pt 2nd half lead to tosu on his watch in the b10 champ game and then got a train put on us im the dance?

Maybe he is a good coach, but our O was piss poor while he was at NU..

So either he was in vharge of it while he was a t NU and it stunk, or he wasnt, in which vase it doesnt make a strong case either way to claim he was the x's and o's guy at NU.

Imho (but backed by stats)

I would agree. We played the same"type" of offense when he was here. Alot of clear out perimeter dribbling..... I wanted to pull my hair out then. It really hasn't changed.

Yeah, I think Smith was more of the motivator and good at managing players.

I may be wrong, but it doesn't seem like Miles is much of a players' coach. I don't remember reading anything from the past 7 years from former players about how much they liked playing for Miles or respected him as a coach or wanted to play hard for him. Having a lot of his better recruits (Jacobson, Morrow, White, Tshimanga) transfer out of the program seems to confirm that.

Its no coincidence that Miles & Nebraska went to crap after Smith left. Smith is a much better coach than Miles and a lot of people knew it.
Miles biggest problem was he failed to hire a assistant equal to smiths offensive play calling, he hired Jim molanria <spelling I remember a lot of people were not happy with that hire

The last 3 seasons Utah State has basically been a .500 team. They are now 24-6 and are in 1st place in the MWC. I thought he was crazy to take that job last year, but man that guy can coach.

Wait....I thought you couldnt turn a program around in a year or 2? I thought you need at least 4 years to get your own guys in there? Something smells fishy. Maybe he took recruiting tips from LSUs coach.

No kidding. But hey, it's the SEC.....for now. It atleast back then. This could be a very wide sweeping thing. Or it will just disappear. I hope the fbi and the ncaa finally do what's right and not what's easiest. FBI may force NCAA to get off their Duff.

You know we're clean. Or we got hosed.

amen to the matter of the sec.

what do mean 'we got hosed'?
slow on the uptake here.

i do wonder if some of it will come by 'self-healing'.
i think the ncaa athletic model is going to crash a bit.
theres too many opportunities arising that could put a damper on all the product.
msotly, in football and basketball.
why would you put up with the ncaa, as a player, if you dont have to...?

IF we were involved, we sure didn't get good ROI.

That's what I meant. Sorry for my sense of humor this morning. Haven't slept much in 3 days

Omom... No actually calving. Out checking every 2 hours. This cold weather has been brutal. Now it's going to thaw and be a mudfest. Gonna be a higher than normal calf mortality rate in the US cow herd imI afraid this year. Plus a lot of general health issues with the mud and moisture.

Just saying
This is one year I don't miss having cattle anymore. How many you have to calve?
