Week 3 Already??? I was so flustered by the CPL On again - off again - on again status of Hot Thursday CPL Action that I almost forgot pick'em! But, unlike the CPL who cancelled games last night, only to reverse that decision yesterday afternoon after most of the teams had cancelled busses and sent kids home! Listen, I know a bunch of you hate the CPL, but tell me the last time your team had to deal with anything like that. On to the picks!!
Senn vs Lakeview
In a battle for the North Side there can be only one team. That one team will always be the Senn BullDAWGSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Woof Woof!!
Dunbar vs Speer
Seems like Mightymen could carry speers, no? Easy pick here...
Chicago Vocational vs Taft
When I first started watching CPL football, I was sitting next to some old timers at Rockne reminiscing about past CPL greatness. Of course, there were only about 11 people in the stands that Saturday morning, so they were all in on the conversation. Anyway, these dudes were going on and on about the 1960 CPL Championship game where CVS played Taft. CVS had Dick Butkus, Taft had Jim Grabowski. Both went on to huge college and NFL careers. It seemed crazy to me, especially since when I started watching CPL, Taft was rolling around in the Big Shoulders conference and CVS was a non entity. Not sure where I was going with that. But, if you are a fan of cool coach attire, Taft has had a lock on that title since they started wearing Ditka sweaters about 10 years ago. Fly Eagles Fly!!
Hyde Park vs South Shore
Be honest. Hyde Park vs South Shore doesn't sound a lot different than Carey Grove vs Prairie Ridge... until you watch the football. Subdivisions for days!!!!
