First day of Fall? No better way to choke down some Pumpkin Spice than while taking in some HOT Thursday CPL Action!
To the Picks!

Thursday 4:15 Starts

King at Urban Prep Bronzeville - Eckersall

Rolling through Target the other day and I come across Pumpkin Spice Twinkies with a big slice of pumpkin pie on the box. I stop. I'm intrigued. I like twinkies. I like Pumpkin Pie. The filling in the picture even looks like rice pudding. I love rice pudding. Guess what? Doesn't taste like a twinkie, pumpkin pie, or, most disappointingly, rice pudding. My dog wouldn't even eat the last one...(even though they were gross, you know I rallied to eat 9 of 10...Twinkies aren't cheap!)
King!
Harlan at Dusable -Stagg
Two teams having tough seasons. Maybe one, or both, can spice things up by rolling to the Jamaican Jerk Villa around the corner from the Stadium on 79th. I'm partial to the oxtail...with extra jerk, but pretty much anything on the menu will make this a "memorable" game for everyone!
Harlan!
Noble Munchin at Noble Academy - Lane
No one does the 4:15 Thursday start like the Noble schools. Gets everyone home in time to study!
Munchin!
Amundsen at Sullivan - Winnemac
Ahh yes. Winnemac Park in the fall. I imagine the Harry and Megan will be on the tip of everyone's tongues.... I can smell the pumpkin spice, and Botox, from here.
Vikings!
Crane at Little Village - Gately
One of the worst YouTube rabbit holes for me is watching construction cranes fail. Whether they are the tower cranes, or they are mobile cranes, there is always that moment where they teeter on the edge and you think they aren't going to wreck...weird cracking sounds...dudes running around...but no wre....there it goes! BOOM
Crane!

Thursday Night Double Header Game

Marine @ Roosevelt - Lane

This is a tough one. A high school named after the US Marines, arguably the toughest branch of the military, versus one named after Teddy Roosevelt, arguably the toughest US President of all time. So tough. Is it cool to hope they all join together at game time and go fight some commies? A guy can dream, right?

Thursdays are so great come fall. NFL, NCAA and CPS all in action! Let's get it.

King at Urban Prep Bronzeville - Eckersall
King Charles is taking over England which reminds me of turf fairies and headers no way that can get me to pick them. Then we look at who they're playing. A prep school? Just as soft. Now if its the bronze age instead of the ville maybe I'd reconsider. But this reeks of soccer. Nil - Nil

Harlan at Dusable -Stagg
DuSable is still recovering after getting embarrassed on a national stage as they got slapped by the full 5 Fingers of Fenger last week. Harlan rolls

Noble Munchin at Noble Academy - Lane
Does Munchin start school at like 4:30am? Is their school motto, "Time to make the donuts?" You know CPL runs on Dunkin. Give me the Munchkins

Amundsen at Sullivan - Winnemac
Ghhost make sure you keep your head on a swivel with all those strollers rolling through the park on an early Thursday afternoon. One might look to the stroller community to break this game down actually. The BOB is a highly sought after stroller and the current blocking scheme of the Amundsen run game. Advantage to the home team. Go jogging strollers!

Crane at Little Village - Gately
Crane, giant towering structures. Little Village People, dwarf cover band. Cranes like to fail as was previously pointed out. Can't stop the music. Little Village takes it.

Thursday Night Double Header Game

Marine @ Roosevelt - Lane

Roosevelt didn't even show up last weekend. Have they recovered enough to fill a roster this week? My money is on the Marines storming them early.

My buddy @GhostOfTheGhhost needs to enhance his pumpkin spice game. I would suggest the Iced Chai Latte with Pumpkin Cold Foam. Nothing like some frothy pumpkin foam. On to this week's picks...

King at Urban Prep Bronzeville - Eckersall
Are the home stands still under construction at Eckersall? Is the concession stand still closed? So we have a bunch of hungry cats that have to sit on the same side of the stands? I also thought we were done with games involving cats. Screw it, I'm going to Uncle John's BBQ instead for some Rib Tips. Call me once the concession stand is back open (or there is a Gately style BBQ outside the north end zone).

Harlan at Dusable -Stagg
Is anything more CPL than getting rolled by 50 one week and then winning by 50 the next week? So, the history books scream Dusable here. But they are also a damn cat. Take the Falcons of Harlan and a Dog from Fat Johnnie's after the game.

Noble Munchin at Noble Academy - Lane
My wife made me watch the Wizard of Oz last night instead of my nightly edition of Family Guy. That is time I will never get back. I'll take Peter, Brian, and Stewie Griffin over the Munchkins (although Peter better use the bathroom before he gets to Lane).

Amundsen at Sullivan - Winnemac
I just put in my mobile order for my Iced Chai with the Pumpkin Cold Foam at Starbucks. Hopefully the mixture of it with the rib tips and hot dog from earlier doesn't upset my acid reflux. If it does, Winnemac may also be down to one toilet, and that will be the true crisis. Vikings!

Crane at Little Village - Gately
Seems like a weird location for this game. Nothing says CPL like both teams having to take a 15-17 mile bus ride (yes both teams are over 15 miles away) for a Thursday 4:15 start. Both teams better be studying their routes to take home, because they may not get home until Friday morning. But imagine the food tour they can take on the way home.

Marine @ Roosevelt - Lane
Nothing says CPL like losing by 50 one week and winning by 50 the next week...except...nothing says CPL like forfeiting one week and then winning by 50 the next week. Roosevelt is the lock of the week, and I'll take a 20 piece Chicken McNuggets from McDonald's to finish off the evening.
