Covid impact on summer workouts

Summer workouts usually begin at the start of June for returning players and early enrollees.

Right now, Rutgers has announced that summer session will proceed as scheduled (with the first classes beginning on May 26), but classes will be conducted remotely. It's still 10+ weeks out, but I'd be curious if players will be allowed on campus for workouts in the practice facility and weight rooms.

And if different areas of the country are on different timelines for their infection curve, would the NCAA step in and place restrictions on workouts so that some teams don't get more practice time than others?

I am guessing a lot of players may have to go through hoops (no pun intended) to find weights or may not be able to workout at all.

If you guys think that the parks in NYC wont be PACKED with hoopers the first day the weather hits 70 you are TRIPPPPPPPIN.

you can lock the **** up, it doesnt matter. Fences will be hopped and the kids (im not saying our players) will force the police to arrest them to make a statement. Basketball is the summer isnt just a fun thing for alot of kids, it’s their culture, it’s their life.

with that said, if they lock up the APC, our kids will do what theyve always done, just go to another gym and round up local college players and get work in

If you really wanted kids not to play basketball, you don't lock the fences - you remove the backboards and hoops. Not saying it'll come to that, though.

I think I read somewhere that they were removing or thinking of removing the hoops in NYC parks

Yep, this is happening in Jersey too. I woke up a few days ago and had an urge to shoot around a little before I started work (figured parks would be empty). Laced up my shoes, grabbed my ball, and went over to the park only to find all of the rims had been taken down. Checked two more parks in my area and found the same lack of rims waiting for me there too. Eventually just gave up and went home.

They’ll find a way. And if they cant find a way extremely social unrest/disobedience will follow
