It seems regions and nations with a ton of Chinese travelers/students/workers were hit pretty hard during those few weeks China covered it up. It's plain to see that big Metros are hit hard due to travel and population density.

It's just the I didn't read the book and now I'm doing a book report vibe. It's not necessary to have him speak every day. I get why he is doing it but it's not actually anything new or even informative. The Fauci stuff is essential... Everything else really isn't... Also... Language

After hearing all the experts say do not touch you face to help prevent becoming infected. The greatest part is when the director of infectious disease (Fauci) palmed his face after hearing Trump.

If Joe can make it to November, Cuomo or the Hildabeast will be trotted out.
I don’t care who wins, loses or draws. It’s all politics and it stinks.

This isn't a question, period. Go find a safe place. This is a free country, free choices, make the wimps on tv to splice it up, they do it anyways.

So the guy who makes My Pillow is converting his factories over to make masks for medical professionals? It’s cool what all of these companies are doing to retrofit their factories to make things such as hand sanitizer, masks, gloves and respirators. It reminds me of all the stories in WW2 of all of the factories doing their part to help win the war.

Exactomundo.
By themselves, each company stands, given a common need, they're formidable, so are we, if only

New York City is using refrigerated trucks as temporary morgues. It's one of the things we discussed a few years ago when our state went through some disaster training exercises. The county conservation district has a refrigerated truck bed that they use to store bare root trees and shrubs before planting. It has shelves that were clearly designed to hold cadavers.

Multitasking with a grim purpose, but its the guys on the ground, the county, that can granulate to make such wise decisions

It is cool, but it sure gets under the skin of some on here.

Hearing rumblings that if this gets really bad a "draft" for any and all health care workers, even retired or those who have left the field, could be enacted. Forcing them all back into service. Does anyone else see this type of thing happening?

Former military personnel?

I have not been on in awhile - I take it your son is in the navy from your previous posts. I am kind of amazed our numbers in Washington have stayed relatively low. Maybe that is a good sign, Although we have effectively been quarantined longer than most

The highlight of every two weeks is driving to the grocery store popping the back truck and having them load my groceries

Its a brave new world

Jeebus.

It would be a great move for him. His product isn't great.

Yeah I can easily see that happening. It probably already should be happening.
Forcing retired healthcare professionals many of whom would be in the highest risk category of dying from this, would not be a good idea. IF anything give expanded responsibility to senior medical students and interns. IF they get really desperate, there are thousands of veterinarians in urban areas with tremendous medical knowledge and ability. Hell some vet techs can run a ventilator and know how to intubate animals. It's amazing what some vets are doing these days. During WWII I think, veterinarians were called on especially to do abdominal surgery in the field due to their excellent knowledge and expertise in that area of surgery. We might have to think outside the box in order to deliver care.

One of the leaders of our medical efforts in Iraq was a veterinarian/Navy Seal. Very interesting guy. I listened to him speak about planning and response to world events for a day. I could have listened for a week. Their thought at that time was that the thing that would cause the next great war would be a food crisis likely due to an extended drought and water shortages. He talked about a pandemic but I don't think something of this scale was on his radar.

They can help behind the scenes though, may be limited on true help, but others may be able to step up as you say.

I guess if you could ensure that they would be seeing non-COVID 19 patients that would be great. I do realize that New York is trying to use one hospital for CV and then treat the others at separate facilities so that could work. It still increases their risk to be out and about.

Most animals have exactly the same layout we do, lungs, kidneys etc, as you know, but, the very fact they are much smaller in our pets, yea, it seems like a great proposition to me

The ship is strictly business as usual, no wuhan cases. But, even so, there's bound to be unknowns

Saw this posted online.. A heads up

Something to consider: please avoid grocery shopping on April 1-3 unless you have a critical need. Many WIC/SNAP benefits come to low-income families at the first of the month and there will be a surge as these families redeem them. Many of these families' benefits were depleted more quickly because children are staying home from school and some families are going hungry right now. Also, please respect their needs by not buying items with a WIC shelf tag unless you absolutely need them. They cannot simply substitute these items with others; they would go without.
This will also help to keep some of our city's most vulnerable safer by not adding to the crowds in the stores unnecessarily.

So...how’s everyone adjusting? I worked remote for basically 13 months between 2018-2019 and it wasn’t hard to fall back into that cycle. Wife is also working from home and our son is home also.

Definite change of lifestyle, we went from 4-5 nights of activity a week and games on weekends to nothing. We had something out of town every weekend from this past weekend through mid May, all cancelled. We cancelled our Spring Break, which broke a 6 year streak. We planned a Spain trip for Spring Break this year, but called that off in mid February, had a backup plan of Florida, but backed out of that the week before.

One day at a time is all we can do at this point.

Me and my wife just go to work, grocery store, gas station and that's it. We are both working full time so income hasn't changed.
With the 1200$ we each get, I am thinking of getting a few security cameras. Always wanted some and it seems like a pretty good time to do so.

I'm curious about the legal hurdles of calling former medical civilians back by a federal summons. That seems like a very bad idea, unless for guidannce, and not direct treatment.

NSIAP: This is encouraging news.
Keep in mind that he self-reported in an open letter to president trump. He has no evidence to backup his claims. Not sure what facility he would have administered to 600 people but hope is a pill in and of itself.
