Hearing rumblings that if this gets really bad a "draft" for any and all health care workers, even retired or those who have left the field, could be enacted. Forcing them all back into service. Does anyone else see this type of thing happening?
Yeah I can easily see that happening. It probably already should be happening.

Anxiety and fear' at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, where mission goes on
Bremerton, Washington
....The onsite workforce has been pared down substantially. There are 6,500 workers arriving daily — about 40% of the total workforce, according to Matt Bailey, a shipyard spokesman. Arrangements have been made for workers over 60 and those who are medically vulnerable to take leave or work from home. In an unprecedented move in the shipyard's 128-year history, more than 2,000 office workers are teleworking, and shifts have been staggered to reduce exposure.

...But there are certain spaces where social-distancing isn't possible. On a submarine, employees work in spaces so tight that "you can smell what your coworker had for breakfast," said one shipyard worker, who asked for anonymity.

All the while, the shipyard's mission continues.

Each of the six dry docks at the shipyard is filled with vessels Navy leaders say are critical to the country's defense. USS Michigan, one of the country's four cruise-missile submarines, is receiving upgrades and preservation work. USS Louisiana, one of the nation's 14 ballistic-missile subs, is undergoing a refueling of its reactor. In the largest of the shipyard's dry docks, an overhaul and modernization of the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier also continue, with work that includes preparations for the ship to carry the Navy's first squadron of F-35C Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters.

I have not been on in awhile - I take it your son is in the navy from your previous posts. I am kind of amazed our numbers in Washington have stayed relatively low. Maybe that is a good sign, Although we have effectively been quarantined longer than most

The highlight of every two weeks is driving to the grocery store popping the back truck and having them load my groceries

Its a brave new world

Not Navy - a shipyard worker. Lately they've been working 6 or 7 days a week.

Glad to see you're staying safe Snohomish. We'll get thru this!

I've been following this board and reading all the information you guys are providing about covid19. Alot of good information, but I think it's making me paranoid.

I walked my dog yesterday and was practically dragging him so I would stay away from people. I put my sleeve over my hand before I open doors, or grab things. I've never washed my hands so much.

A kid hit a ball over my fence, and I threw it back. I was was thinking, I should have been wearing gloves. Lol. I would just hate to be infected and be the cause of someone else's sickness or death. Be safe, stay healthy and GBR.

Oh....that would provide patients with quality care; make someone take care of them who doesn't want to actively be working in healthcare. There would need to be screening for competence etc.

There is always the " incentive" route. Of course this does not reward those dedicated employees who have weathered the storm giving their all. I have worked healthcare for 40 years..it's always a struggle.

Really wish the Dr's would be the only ones giving the daily updates it would be extremely helpful for the nation as a whole. Everything else is just ego fluffing

I noticed in your signature that you have "Fauci 2020!!" Did you know that he is older than Bernie, Biden, and Trump! He works 19 hours a day and runs 3.5 miles every day, which is half of what he was running before Covid19!

yeah, this is not good news. It's playing politics with an unproven therapy.

From the story linked in the tweet:

The Food and Drug Administration on Sunday issued an emergency use authorization for hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine, decades-old malaria drugs championed by President Donald Trump for coronavirus treatment despite scant evidence.

"Let's see how it works," Trump said at a press briefing on Sunday, referencing New York state's efforts. "It may. It may not."

Career scientists have been skeptical of the effort, noting the lack of data on the drugs' efficacy for coronavirus care and worried that it would siphon medication away from patients who need it for other conditions, calling instead for the agency to pursue its usual clinical trials.

"I would like to see who at FDA's [Medical Countermeasures Initiative] signed off on this EUA despite the total lack of scientific evidence that chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine are beneficial in the treatment of COVID-19," tweeted Luciana Borio, who served as FDA's acting chief scientist between 2015 and 2017. "EUA is supposed to be issued when the evidence indicates that benefits outweigh the risks."

I think people are just hopeful for an effective treatment to be available. I don't understand the political gamesmanship at a time like this. I just don't want my loved ones to get this and die. We have to make the best of the hand we are dealt. Treat the affliction, or more dead.

Man I would take calm, reasoned, and science based approach over anyone running. He seems to be extremely level headed. Hard to believe he's been there since the Reagan administration. I say that as a full fledged ageist too.

Agree and hope around an unproven treatment only emboldens people to take social distancing even less seriously.

Hard to disagree with anything Fauci says. He keeps the main thing the main thing. My kind of guy.....data, stats, science based evidence etc

So, drain cleaner will kill this bug, but don't drink or eat it.
Same for salt, you can eat salt, but those bath salts are nasty.
Oh, and acidic things kill the virus, drain cleaner has things that are acidic, arrest all those doctors!

My parents are in their mid 70's. I was a late 'oops' child. I would rather them die later from side effects than die now from pneumonia.

If Joe can make it to November, Cuomo or the Hildabeast will be trotted out.
I don’t care who wins, loses or draws. It’s all politics and it stinks.

Agree. Networks really need to stop airing these unless the Dr is speaking. Maybe delay them with thought bubbles that translate what the actual truth is when the not Dr's speak

The MyPillow CEO was great. You donate $200k to the President's campaign and you get to talk in the Rose Garden before the doctors do!

Rachel Moscow on msdnc said it wouldn't be here this week, only because Trump said it would.
We need to pull together, and condemn people like that to history.

It's just the I didn't read the book and now I'm doing a book report vibe. It's not necessary to have him speak every day. I get why he is doing it but it's not actually anything new or even informative. The Fauci stuff is essential... Everything else really isn't... Also... Language
