UK soundly defeated #9 Kansas last night and the top headlines in that rag are UK Basketball attendance dropping and Little Brother beats an ACC bottom feeder.
Guess we know who supports BBN. Sad a once great newspaper has sunk so low:mad:

I feel you OP. 100%.
I am about to write to Mr. Sullivan, the writer of the story. Why this headline right after we just won a nice game against a quality opponent?
Attendance is down in everything around us these days.
Malls are closing, stores are closing due to less foot traffic. Schools all over are seeing a decline as are the pros.
Newspapers all over are seeing a major decline in readership.
It is about economics.
But OP, look positive. I went out to get my paper wondering if the CJ was even going to have an article on the game. Usually the CJ writes about the game the day after.
Hell, by then I have already read the Lexington paper, the online CJ, ESPN.

You cannot just get the Sunday paper anymore. The CJ writes about UK attendance when he needs to be worrying about his own job the way things are going with newspapers these days.

Tell them to analyze attendance after the full schedule has been played. UK will have 24 K for at least 6 of the remaining games prior to the article being written. It was written prior to the 24,350 last night.

They made it seem as though UK was reducing seating in Rupp because of a huge decline in attendance instead of the fact that chair back seats take up more room than bleachers.

I thought the article was both timely and excellent . We do have a real problem as does every other university .
If we can’t sell almost three thousand tickets per game and for the first three months 28 % of those with tickets don’t show that indicates those 28 % might also drop their tickets in the future .
I think it’s interesting how MB and other AD’s attacked the problem . Raising donations required substantially and reducing capacity by about 13 % albeit in the least desirable seats . Probably a very smart move economically but shows like the NCAA college sports has nothing to do with amateur athletics or the students who attend .

It’s a big business designed to maximize profits with no other consideration in mind . If you think otherwise don’t kid yourself .

I share season tickets and wish more people would do so . It’s a great experience going up nine or ten times a year . Eating before , hearing the pep band and experienceing the crowd . However , it’s also a great experience at home . You can see better, no traffic , see the replays .

If I had season tickets it would be a hassle and yes I would miss a bunch of games . Less truly is more . If you have season tickets share them if you don’t want to go to all the games like the owner of my tickets does.

It’s good for him ( recoups about a grand ) and good for us . Win win.

Time will tell, but I seriously doubt it. UT and Auburn for sure (quality opponents and Saturday games), but where are the other four? USC, LSU and Arkansas will all definitely have thousands of empty seats as they're Tuesday night games - which many people hate - against marginal opponents. The only other remaining home game is the season finale vs Florida, and even though it's on a Saturday and will probably be the last home game for PJ/Travis etc I have serious doubts even this game will be totally full.

I've been a season ticket holder for upper level midcourts for the last several years and from what I've seen demand for tickets this year - with the exception of TN and KU - has been crap. I tried for months to sell my $112/pair face value tix to the TA&M game and finally sold them for a whopping $36. I've been trying to unload my USC tix with zero nibbles, even at under half face value.

Their problem is that the game ended too late to make today’s paper. I know. Game ended at 8:00. Used to be a midnight deadline, now it’s 4:00 pm the day before. They probably have an article in there today that the Patriots beat the Chiefs.

Daaang, is this true? You'd think with the internet taking their lunch money, they'd try to be more flexible, not less.

Yes. It’s sad. They often run the same article or will have scores from the NBA from 3 days ago. That’s why it’s pretty much free to subscribe

If you have a wood burning fireplace or like a fire when you go camping, then I recommend the cj, it's excellent for use as a fire starter.

None of that fits their narrative....

Every game is on TV live now. Television deals have changed attendance for sporting events. Back in the day when games were going to be on delay or even JP Sports I was much more likely to go watch a live game. Now I can sit in front a huge TV with my friends. It’s tough to leave straight from work, drive 3+ hours one way, pay for parking & food, then drive home, sleep a few hours and head back to work.

Louisville media is delusional. I was listening to 790 and this clown Said UK fans are obsessed with UofL. Now maybe it's true but it's like a cat that keeps playing with a dead mouse even though it's head is missing.
