Not saying I wholly agree but could we foresee the product (tourney team, etc) falter if we get two “one and done” players. We’ve seen this with Kentucky where they don’t have banner years each year which kids like that. Pike seems to thrive on building a system and players.

Don’t get me wrong- the positive press, the talent in court, the buzz, etc will be off the charts…. But could there be a downside?

I would say maybe but more likely at another school. Kids we r getting seem to play D already. Pre- season practice and plug in to this defensive system and we still should hold opponents low BUT score easier.

We have only won 1 NCAA tournament game so far in this big run. Despite all the great press and hoopla, 1 game. If we want to be serious about consistent Sweet 16s, Final Fours, like Villanova, Kansas, Purdue etc, we need those 5* players

By February Pike would have that team fully calibrated and a complete buzzsaw for the rest of the conference.

It’s funny that we might thumb our nose at solidly talented players. Please, let’s give it a try. The last 40 years have often been less than mediocre. Very humbling for every one involved. Let’s give change a chance. We have an excellent staff. It’s insane to think they can’t mold a team from excellent players.

It’s a good question. If anyone can navigate it I think it’s pike. I just get excited about his system with Uber talented kids taking nothing away from the current guys who are great and super connected.

The bigger "issue" IMO is the fanbase. I guarantee you that if we have top 10 recruiting classes, there are going to be more than a few "entitled" fans who will crap all over the team at the first sign of problems and will be calling for Pike's head when we have a 4 seed team that loses to a 13 seed in the first round someday. Hint: some of these fans will be the same ones who crap all over the team now when we lose a few, but there will be a lot more of them. Price of success I guess.

Counterpoint: this already happens now
