Bagley being able to lead a press break on the dribble is just ridiculous. The kid is an immense talent and he’s a workaholic.

We may not have a lot of shooters, but the ones we have look pretty damn good! Grayson is shooting it like he did sophomore year.

Really impressed with the defense being played on the court.

Goldwire and O'Connell impress me the most

Goldwire is going to make Tre so much better. And Goldwire should be able to defend anyone at this point.

Grayson and Gary are going to be like JJ and Daniel in ‘05. Not a lot of shooters on the team, but two really good ones. The upside is that team never had a player like Bagley. We won’t have 15 guys that can shoot threes this year, but if the two main wings can be consistent, coupled with the post presence and rebounding, we’ll be very tough to match up against.

I would agree.

And btw, this was that ‘edge’ I’ve been talking about with Trent, Jr. He craves the spotlight and big moment.

He had an epic shootout against Trae Young at a camp junior summer much like he has right now with Grayson. He forces opponents to try to match him and most can’t.

Really impressed with our team especially the contributions from the bench! Goldwire, O’Connell, and Tucker I feel like will be very good in the future for Duke! Not impressed with Jordan Tucker’s dance moves though:eek: That dunk by Duval was wicked awesome!!

Javin was very good tonight, too, in a quiet, unassuming way.

Grayson and Marvin will be our leading scorers and are our best players. Wendell is a monster on the offensive glass. He’ll play 30 minutes/night if he rebounds like that. Trent is a two-way player. Trevon was a little sloppy but he’s a bullet. Those five look like our starters, IMO.

Marques and Javin play the most off the bench....and maybe Goldwire? I’m still not convinced of that, but tip of the cap to the young man....he played well tonight.

I was VERY impressed.

Duval's dunk tho! I love that kids confidence as well as Trent Jr.

O'Connell surprised me.

Love this team. Don't get me wrong, I love the Duke teams that had 3-4 elite perimeter shooters but as Coach Spatola (sp?) said on the broadcast, this team is going to control the boards and in college basketball, that is key in the NCAA Tournament!

If Goldwire is playing that well in practice can see him playing 6 to 9 minutes per game to give Duval a breather

When they were announcing the players, for some reason I started thinking about Grayson's senior night. I hope that biggest emotional high of his life.

I'm telling ya guys, this team will have what last year's team didn't, and it's toughness.
Grayson has to be so pumped, and I have this feeling he's looking forward to this year more than his previous three, now add in that the best coach in the land is more fired up than ever.
Then throw in some young studs that know who the captain is. What we will see is this Duke team dismantle their opponents.
We could lose to Michigan St, and if we do, it will be a very close game I think, But, we could blow them out of the water. Buckle up men!

If that song Grayson came out to for his last CTC intro didn't say to you about his love for Duke, nothing will.

Awesome night of duke basketball. Loved it. Really excited to see what the future may be with Goldwire.

Especially if Tre is as sloppy as he was tonight. I don’t anticipate it all season, but there will be some big games or big situations where Tre tries to go too fast. If the trade off is what he would possibly bring to the table otherwise, I’ll take it. He’s got some gifts other PG’s don’t have.

I tried to tell ppl Goldwire can play and should get minutes. He should play about 5-7 minutes a game.

I’m with you. 5 minutes is the most I can see for now, but maybe that number increases depending on situations. He does things that Coach K loves, i.e. talking on the court, play tough positional defense, hit the open three, value the basketball. That’ll get you playing time if you’re a worthy player.

Very exciting scrimmage. I left quite a bit more impressed than I did last year. There is far more versatility, as far as lineup possibilities, as well as athleticism and size than there was last year.

There is a reason Duke jumped from 5th or 6th to 1st in many polls when Bagley came aboard. He is just a whole other dimension.

And the intros dance award goes to the guy who will get the fewest minutes on the team, Brandon Besser.

Yes, the athleticism has me drooling. Barring any unusual situations (injuries/suspensions, etc.) this team is at worst an Elite 8 team. That athleticism and rebounding will be key in the tournament, especially when shots will not be falling like that do in the regular season.

This is the impression I had as well watching yesterday. With our size and athleticism, our floor just seems to be so high that I can’t imagine an early exit from the tournament with this team if healthy. Even in games in which we struggle offensively, we should still be able to dictate game flow defensively and on the boards.

Bagley's activity around the rim is something that Duke has been missing since Okafor. Those tip ins are a welcomed site to see!

5 minutes a game is all this team needs out of Goldwire. And, if Tre gets into early foul trouble, all this team needs is for Goldwire to hold his own and not be overwhelmed/dominated on either end of the court. That is more than enough. Now we just need one of Tucker, White, O'Connel to be able to give 5+ a game when/if needed. Nothing big, just holding there own for a couple of minutes.

I would love to see 5 minutes from Goldwire. I think it's easy to tell that he is out to try and show everyone he can play. Whether or not it gets him playing time in real games is a different story, but to me his attitude of "I belong here too" was obvious and nice to see

The confidence and assertiveness of Goldwire and O'Connel really impressed me. Both made nice plays within the flow of the game against legitimate competition. Not against walk-ons or during All Star style no defense garbage time.

My favorite part was when Trent and Allen got after each other. That was fun to watch. Seems like that could get heated in practice, in a good way. They will push each other.

I like Trent a lot. He has that Justise kind of intensity despite the different skill set. He even looked bigger then I thought he'd be.

Wendell was a freak on the interior. I hope that translates well to actual games. I think it will based in all the bigs he's up against in practice. He also showed some range I didn't thinking had.

I was really impressed by Goldwire and O'Connell. I doubt they will see much of the floor, but they seem like those guys that you can throw out there when nothing is clicking and then they provide a spark. Sort of like Grayson his freshmen year, but not with such an impact.

Javin was fun to watch too. Very athletic as stated, but also had some nice passes and a long range shot or two. Lots of enthusiasm and I hope we see him a lot.

Bolden looked very active and involved. I know in the presser thread it says Wendell is in the starting lineup, but I hope to see Bolden there with Bagley. I thought they played well off each other and had some good chemistry. I'm rooting for Bolden and I hope he's got it now.

I would have liked to see more Tucker. He hit a jumper early that looked really smooth. He and O'Connell could be quite a scoring punch down the road.

I'm really excited for the season. When is the first exhibition?
