Seriously considering this as a big upset pick on my bracket. I love Nova's guards and shooting ability, but they haven't played anyone as athletic or tall as LSU.

Absolutely! The problem is they won't be playing them as they will lose to NC ST. Jones is an idiot as a coach...I just do not see his players winning in spite of him. I hope I'm wrong and they get a shot at Nova.

Yes, LSU could beat them. And they could also lose to 50 different teams in the tourney.

lsu is talented and can beat anybody at there best but coaching and poor guard play seems to kill them.

is that what caused them to lose to us, because they were in the game late.

The SEC is holding its own in the NIT.....Vandy is currently ahead and the others already won their games.
Ole Miss won its game as well (great game to watch)
I have wondered if the league was as bad as UK made it look.........like 96 it was hard to gauge the league by UK....but that year the SEC got two in the final four. Also UGA lost a close one in the sweet 16......the other teams also won a few games....

LSU may be better than we think, they have talent even if it is inconsistant. I am just waiting to see if the league sucked or UK was an even more impressive team than I thought.

I have LSU making it to the elite 8 and losing to Providence ( i think that bracket goes crazy ) . My final 4 is UK vs Arizona and Providence vs Iowa St . UK and Iowa St play for it all , UK wins by 16 .

They have a dead eye shooter, they have size, they have athleticism… crazy athleticism but that man can't coach what he has and that stinks.
Lsu's saving grace is they get to play against a Mark Gottfried coached team, that's another coach that's in over his head and is the reason NC state is so inconsistent. Both teams will be locked in and I expect other to come down to the wire. Whoever wins that game is going to scare the crap out of Nova.

LSU's two bigs Martin and Mickey would win a 2 vs 2 battle with any 2 posts from any other team

Only 4 SEC teams made it that year. The fourth was Arkansas, who also made the Sweet 16.

Lsu/ncst game is a battle of the clueless coaches, throw Barnes in there & you have the trifecta.

Could LSU beat Villanova?

Could Notre Dame beat Kentucky?

The answer to both is yes. WILL either happen? Not likely.

Let's not get carried away here. Towns and WCS say hi. Those guys are very good, but 2/2 with no switches with guards on them like in a real game...good luck scoring over our guys.

Of course they can but...they are terribly inconsistent. They have several great match up advantages vs. V who is small but they can shoot and they will spread the floor. If LSU hammers the ball inside and discourages Mickey and the other big from jacking up 3's they have a chance. Unfortunately, they are horribly undisciplined and will in all likelihood lose to a much better coached and veteran team.

LSU is capable of beating any team in the country. They are also very capable of having a bad game at any given time.

I have LSU in my elite 8. Have us, Arkansas, and Ole Miss losing in the round of 32. And I'm definitely not confident we make it that far, but I have to pick us to win at least one game for the homer in me, right?

Isn't Martin hurt? Also, Villanova will destroy LSU (assuming LSU beats NCSU); bad matchup for LSU, imho. The gulf in guard play is huuuuge.

If you have LSU advancing you're just be a sec homer. Nothing they have done says they can. Auburn who absolutely sucks, and doesn't even have a front court beat them TWICE. They lost to Mississippi St, A&M beat them twice, they even lost to UT. They do not get up for many games, a poorly prepared and coached team imo. Just because it can happen doesn't make it likely.

I doubt it. To inconsistent and no coaching. A half way decent coach would have them a Top 20 team all year and would never lose to Auburn.

This is the thing. LSU's guards are just soooo bad. If they pull a miracle and beat NC State, Villanova's guards will just abuse them. They are at least as good as Harrell and Ross-Miller. They have a couple of decent bigs that can get Mickey and Martin in foul trouble really quick too.
