It will be very hard to win a championship unless Washington/Gabriel starts playing a ton better.

Yes, because we are already seeing how much potential this team has without JV. Top teams this year rely primarily on freshman if that tells you anything

No. UK lost to KU when KU had off shooting night.

Granted that UK’s defenders had a lot to with that, but uk is not as strong as in years past.

This is just not a great UK team.

Cal will coach them up, he is a good coach, but they are sweet sixteen and out.

I say UK can get to the Elite Eight as long as they continue to mature on defense/rebounding and we develop a second reliable scorer next to Knox. This is probably the most athletic team in the country if you are being objective, but they have a lot of wrinkles to iron out between now and March. UK will have to learn to play effective defense without fouling, use their size/length to their advantage, hit FTs, and iron out roles.

Ain't going to happen. Bagley going to Duke likely sealed the deal. The guy's a freak talent. I think Cal backed off knowing he would never be declared eligible at UK. But Duke? In letting NC off the NCAA opened the door for all kinds of shady crap going down in college basketball in the state of North Carolina. Those two schools can basically do whatever they want. I guess Big Tabacco money can take you a long way.

It was the 3rd fame of year and we are playing almost all freshman.

Don't you have some women beaters to make excuses for?

So much negativity... No we aren't a favorite, and we can't know how exactly our players and the team will develop. But to write us off as certainly not being able to win it all is insanely premature. We made it to the title game as an 8 seed and lost to a 7. Crown Duke? Our 2015 team didn't win. Neither did 91 UNLV. Other favorites have gone down before the FF (Us and Kansas in 2010). We have enough talent, enough depth, and a coach who has proven to take groups of inexperienced players and mold them into contenders. Hell yes we "could" win it.

Get back to me when u play someobody better than Utah valley state or the other garbage non conference schedule u all have. U all might not beat one top 25 team in the non con. That’s sad.

Kentucky isn't winning it this season regardless but I do think we will win it all next season . Vanderbilt will play so this is a moot point but I do think without him our ceiling is elite 8 . With him our ceiling is final 4 . I believe though we will lose a hard fought elite 8 game and a large group ( consititing of Green, Baker, Alexander , Gabriel , Tai , SKJ , PJ and possibly Richards will return and join a freshman class of Herro , Quickley , Jonhson , Zion and Wiseman to make Cal's best team at UK ( or at worst 2nd best).

What a moron . It is not our fault that UCLA , UL , and VT might not be ranked when we play them. We will beat all 3 teams and 2 of those 3 are big names. Literally you would have to be the dumbest of the dumb to use our schedule as a way to bash us. We play KU , WVU , UCLA , UL all who have been in the top 10 in the last 12 months. We also play Vermont , VT , Harvard and Monmouth who have some acclaim. Not to mention playing in the best conference this season in basketball. Only the ACC is close . We played KU tooth and nail and lost due to have literally a whole team who had never been in that situation before. I might not think UK will win a title this season but I do think we will come in 2nd in the best conference and lose 7 games tops . Elite 8/final 4 is where we will end the season which is a great set up season for our historic run next season.

Lofty expectations. I've said since the end of last season if Cal can so much as reach the ncaa's he should win COY. I don't expect them to win it with Vanderbilt.

Hahah cal already said he was afraid of playing the big boys in the pk80. While duke has already played Michigan state Florida Texas and Indiana. U guys play no one. U thought UCLA would still be good even though they lost Lonzo?

I think we have seen in the last 9 years that if you get in the tournament,.anything can happen. In 2014 it was a 7 seed UCONN vs an 8 seed UK for the championship. In 2010 and 2015 we had the best team and didn't even play in the championship game either year.

You evidently have not watched Kentucky play other than against your team. This Kentucky team has players at every position. If that’s not enough we have backup at every position. This team is stronger than last years team. We may not have two top ten pics but there are no real matchup deficits. Defensively they are studs and have more upside than any team in the NCAA . I don’t think ku wants any of uk in March/April. This is a different team with the extreme youth but from 1-5 and 6-8 we are across the board better than last years team. If you throw Vanderbilt into the mix...good luck !

The team that played KU in November will not be the same team that plays them in March. I’m not saying they’re going to win it but I think they’ll be right there competing for it. As a fan, that’s all you can ask out of your program. This team will look a hellava lot different come March.

No, the field is too strong for us to win at all without him. Why is this board being so pessimistic about Vanderbilt playing the last couple of days, anything new?

Why would Cal back off because of that? Don’t you think he’d rather have Bagley not get eligible at UK than to suit up against UK? It makes zero sense for Cal to prefer for him to go to Duke than to not be able to play.

UK took a beating in the press over Kanter. Memphis lost a final four banner over a player. Wonder why Cal is risk averse to someone with sketchy academics? Maybe because KY and Cal are being watched intensely by the NCAA unlike two certain schools on tobacco road that can do pretty much whatever they like...
