I am looking at the next 4+ years of Rutgers basketball. Geo has done a ton for this program and I am very grateful. We have now seen 2 years of high quality basketball and I think we can see different teams and all their strengths and weaknesses. I think we can self reflect and understand where we need to improve. We definitely need better defense, better shooting and better play making from his position.

What will his “hunger” factor coming back in year 5? Will he go after loose balls any harder? Will he put his body in the way of a penetrator and take a charge?

if he comes back he will be the leader. That concerns me.

you're the joker making it all political...saying you don't like him because he is not afraid to voice his opinions about something that DIRECTLY affects him.

Why is ok for some meaningless know-nothing like you to state our opinion...but GEO is not allowed to?
Again, it’s simple. We need to stop rewarding the outrage crowd. There are ways to properly approach situations and what some of the weird crowd is cheering for is pure outrage porn. The more hyperbolic your statement (playing d1 ball on a fully scholly is modern day slavery) the louder we cheer you.

i’m all for these kids being able to benefit from NIL but with certain restrictions that would regulate pay for play schemes/pay if you commit schemes, whatever you want to call them. Instead the people here who havent gotten anything of significance negotiated in their life are shoving these kids balls in their mouths telling them how special, important and right they are rather than telling them there’s a certain way to approach things to get **** done and what geo’s doing isnt it.

but I'm right, aren't I?

So you don't like him and attack his character saying he is "least likable" because you don't like or agree with his progressive, liberal beliefs and the fact he is not afraid to voice them....yet I'M the one who is disgusting?

if you have the balls, answer the question honestly for all to see. Are you a republican?
I’m a social libertarian and fiscal conservative.

That has nothing to do with my thoughts on Geo. I highly doubt I line up politically with 99% of the players that have played at Rutgers.

I told you, he stinks of smugness. Additionally, he’s not a “leader” for creating a distraction for his team during this week.

Not to mention, this whole movement is a joke. Dude is one of the most privileged people at Rutgers whether he realizes it or not.

It's really sad despicable actually, when certain posters put their political agendas ahead of a kid who is fighting for a good cause along with several other leaders like Livers from Michigan. To those who can't help themselves out of their political biases, just remember back when you were his age.

Now get over it and support him as a player not based on your political lens. Personally, I would love to have him back as well as the entire team. We could be a top 10 team next year and go deep in the tournament.

When I was his age I paid for 100% of my Rutgers education on my own
eh...there are several posters who rail on Geo ... and it's not too hard to connect their other posts on other topics to make the connection why they're railing on him.

that said, I think people can say whatever they want (within reason)...as long as they're ok taking the heat/criticism for it

I rail on Geo. Most over-rated player in Rutgers history. Choked in his last 4 games. Has not improved his game at all in 4 years while those around him did. But some how gets the majority of the camera time when credit is given for Rutgers success. Johnson and Young represented our school better. Better players and neither were ever self serving to the press. They improved every year here, and never bragged about choosing Rutgers over Vermont and being the turning point for Rutgers basketball becuase of that bold decision. I also paid for every cent of my Rutgers education myself and am personally offended when Geo claimed he was a slave.

Now politically, I voted for both democrats and republicans in the last election. I did not vote for Trump.

My family is interracial.

And I am disgusted by people who, when debating, make up straw men arguments disparaging those they disagree with.

Look you are doing exactly what you chastise Geo for doing. Putting your opinions on social media for everyone to see. Society isn’t collapsing. What is happening is lazy people would rather be influenced by others rather than becoming informed. Same as they did by reading multiple biased newspapers a day years ago and pretending they were informed.

last, I would certainly respect your opinion about everything being political if you posted it prior to the election. What certainly happens from a political perspective when your team is not in power currently is on display on the CE board. Lots of guys outraged about meaningless stuff. Don’t fall into that trap.

It’s amazing that this needs to get explained.

It’s NOT about what Geo was saying. It’s WHEN he was saying it.

Geo isn’t a leader. He’s a distraction.

Geo is so pro “likeness” I thought he would have declared by today. He’s a slave at RU remember, clearly can make tons of money on his own with his likeness. Not sure what there is to think about from his POV.

I find it interesting that on a board where politics are supposedly not allowed it is permissible to have obviously political statements in your signature.

Well, we all find different things interesting. My signature was written back when the CE Board wasn't behind a paywall ... and I can't even access the two links anymore (I assume they still work). It may or may not be political, but it is factual.

In my lifetime, I have voted both democrat and republican at the state senator level, for Congressional candidates, fo Governor, and for President. I actually listen to many opposing world views, and find the one that fits me.

Have you EVER voted , even once, at any level, for someone that has a (D) next to their name?

Didn't think so.

So don't lecture me on not liking people with a different world view when it's obvious only the Republicans or REPUBLICANS ON STEROIDS (Libertarians) have mentioned on here having a problem with Geo's different world view.

I love my sports, I follow sports to get away from everthing else if I was interested in the politics I would put on CNN. I wouldn't mind If GEO he did not come back.

Understand the sentiment. I think this is slightly different. It's the sports message board that's bringing this into our sport getaway. Geo posted a tweet on social media. That to me is a good place to share views on things like social injustice, etc. Geo did not have a sit in to delay the game to share his social view. He made his point on a social platform to garner attention while eyes are watching. I don't think he even called out anyone on this board with his tweet. People on this board have brought his viewpoint into our safe haven more than Geo did.

Thats the thing, i dont follow them in order to avoid it but theyre so loud about it and it gets retweeted and makes its way here and its just sooo annoying. The level of privilege that these kids come from is astounding

Perhaps Geo is taking a stand for many that are not coming from a place of privilege and don't yet have a voice or platform to speak. There are some players that come from nothing and cannot risk rocking the boat to bring up any issues.

Right because we are on a message board where you write messages to discuss topics and respond to people who write messages to you about sad topic. Crazy, I know.

Gotchas are a fairly silly way to approach this topic. All someone needs to say is they don’t fit your profile of them in some limited way and then you have egg on your face.

Anyway this is a politically loaded topic. There a lot of issues in this topic that all intersect. And anyway, it’s reductive to think these topics were distracting the team in anyway.

At our heart this was never that talented a team. They were just a tough team that aside from the scorching start, gritted out wins. They would go on long scoring draughts, but also cause the other team to go on long scoring draughts. We have an offense that doesn’t really priority ball movement all that much and aside from the 5, our 1-4s are pretty interchangeable.

A team like is that going to need luck to survive and sooner or later if you have to rely heavily on luck, you’re going to fail. All this talk about politics being a distraction is just noise. It ultimately came down to this being a limited team.

Yes, we made it to the tournament, but...even with the bracket aligned the way it was, we were going to need luck to power all the way through.

All it takes is one conservative on the ballot and no doubt you voted for them. EVERY TIME.

You say you have voted for a democrat at some point, then fine. I believe you (secretly, no I don't. You seem like the type that would just blindly vote for the Republican party up and down the ballot every single time.....without hesitancy and without fail. The type that won't even vote at all if there is no candidate running with an (R) next to their name.

Also, I hear the other points you are making. I just don't agreee with you. Like not one bit.
I don't think Geo is whiny. I don't think Geo is entitled. I DO think he is a great leader. And more importantly, so do his teammates.

For you to say he is the least likable player is a reflection on you and all the other conservatives here (why is it that only condervatives have a problem with him?)

That is because he does not fit your world view...and Laura Ingraham's...that unless players are on the same page as the prevalent conservative thought (and if they are, then God bless them and give them a microphone and let them speak) but if they are not, then they are unlikeable and should just shut up and dribble the damn ball like a good little uneducated athlete.
