Even before I'd heard of this meeting I thought to myself, why would Geo be so vocal about NIL if he's not returning next year? Unless he wanted to be the face of a movement for altruistic reasons, or was gonna start an organization for which he would be CEO and paid, it made me wonder if it signaled his return. It would also signal a return for other players around the country if they thought they could make some coin, which has some big problems that have to be addressed to safeguard it against becoming a shitshow of corruption.

He’s definitely not sure - if he was, he would’ve announced like JY did.

If his leadership in the NIL movement results in a quick decision, his economic future in the short-medium term is worth far more in an RU uniform than in Europe. I’m not even talking about only for basketball. I’m not into politics really, but there would be a lot of good strategic career building relationship opportunities for him in staying the course.

What’s interesting to me about the kids organizing the movement is that it’s all upper class kids. The fact that there seems to be some quick action / response leads me to wonder if the NCAA might decide to quickly loosen the rules for kids only after completing their first year. That would at least remove some (though not all)of the concerns for recruiting bribery.

I don’t.

Honestly one of the least likable basketball players I can remember in recent years tbh.
I don't get this at all.

Seems like a class act on/off the court. I don't recall any off court issues with him.

Geo led our team for 3 years, hit nunerous clutch shots to win games. Got our team to enough wins in back-back seaeasons to get us into NCAAs.

I will take him back in a heartbeat

I don’t think he led this team at all this year. The locker room was very clearly fractured.

We'd be crazy not to want the entire team back next year. We might be a top 10 ranked team with everyone back. I'll separate the off court stuff from the player and still take Geo back motivated. We know what he could be when he is on his game.

From a poster who has had one terrible Pike take after another. Take that into account.
I don’t think my take on Pike was so terrible, but you’re entitled to think it is.

I called Pike overrated. You all talk about him like he’s God because he brought us back to being average. I mean there were a ton of threads here yesterday saying Pike cost us the game last night.

For the record overrated doesn’t mean he’s bad, it just means he’s not as good as so many here claim.

Going to the NCAA Tournament is way better than average

I do hope Geo comes back. My guess is he is not sure what he wants to do yet. His press conference yesterday suggested to me that he may not be done at Rutgers. If Myles stays I think he would stay too.
I love my sports, I follow sports to get away from everthing else if I was interested in the politics I would put on CNN. I wouldn't mind If GEO he did not come back.

Yeah itd be nice if we could go back to days where EVERYTHING didnt have to be political. These kids think theyre activists these days. I miss the days where sports were an escape, it’s no longer the case.

No one should be attacked or disliked for their opinion.
I hope he returns because he is an admirable young person speaking out on a very important issue today for student athletes.
He will be hated by some but beloved by others. Great Men and leaders often have this quality.
I choose to give him the benefit of the doubt. This isn't about Geo. This is about change.
Hope you don't feel attacked. Hope good people can disagree...

It's really sad despicable actually, when certain posters put their political agendas ahead of a kid who is fighting for a good cause along with several other leaders like Livers from Michigan. To those who can't help themselves out of their political biases, just remember back when you were his age.

Now get over it and support him as a player not based on your political lens. Personally, I would love to have him back as well as the entire team. We could be a top 10 team next year and go deep in the tournament.

SMH. The culture in this country is trash right now. Its never been worse before. Unfortunate. Nowadays if you disagree with someone the response is “youre an evil (insert political party affiliation)”.

people like u suck man and theres alot of you in todays society unfortunately
but......am I right? If so, that says a lot more about him than me asking this question says about me.

What a disgusting response from you. You should be ashamed of yourself.
but I'm right, aren't I?

So you don't like him and attack his character saying he is "least likable" because you don't like or agree with his progressive, liberal beliefs and the fact he is not afraid to voice them....yet I'M the one who is disgusting?

if you have the balls, answer the question honestly for all to see. Are you a republican?

Again, it falls back to people like you and geo making everythingggggg political. Some of us just find his act to be tiring because of how much of a baby he acts like. Calling playing d1 basketball modern day slavery. Im sorry, i dont have an ounce of sympathy for privileged babies like him

kyk, I disagree with your political views (probably not all of them, but the general direction) but I find your posting to be much more reasonable than many others with similar views. As such, I direct this message to you:

You don't have to follow the players on Twitter. You can just ignore their political views. Even if Geo wears a shirt or a player kneels or whatever you can just watch the game and root for your team.

Social media is what is making this climate so toxic.

I appreciate what Geo has accomplished at RU and thank him for his efforts.

But the talent in the portal can upgrade our play for next season at his position. Can we at least window shop for a Geo replacement before inviting him back?

Thats the thing, i dont follow them in order to avoid it but theyre so loud about it and it gets retweeted and makes its way here and its just sooo annoying. The level of privilege that these kids come from is astounding

You could avoid the threads on player tweets too :p

Look, I understand it's harder than it sounds. I absolutely despise Twitter whining and whining generally which seems to be a lot of what "politics" (at least internet politics) is about these days. And yet, I still open the threads and get into arguments.

Ive always leaned conservative but I used to be pretty apolitical and never really discussed with anyone outside of family prior to about 2019ish. Now it is from the time i wake up til i fall asleep it cannot be avoided and you cant even use sports as an outlet away from the noise any more. It’s just frustrating. Society is collapsing

Good summary. I’ve always been pretty centrist, lean left on social issues, but the environment of 24/7 political sewage is collapsing our society. And it’s on both sides. And it’s entirely preventable.

I’m editing this post days later because I think I need to be more clear. I’m not agreeing that the 24/7 political sewage that is collapsing our society is uniquely on the shoulders of the media. Equally to blame (or maybe more so) is the behavior of our elected officials, and certain divisive ones in particular. And yes, they exist on both sides. The media is partially to blame, but it is not setting the narrative more than the actual people running our country. It’s a reflection of who we are.

He isn't protesting while playing ball. If you don't want to hear a young man's comments on literally basketball NCAA related issues, then it doesn't have to be listened to in order to watch the game.

Otherwise, I agree that nonstop political ******** is ruining the country. Not everything has to be political. Then again, I don't think NCAA players discussing NCAA issues is political.

you're the joker making it all political...saying you don't like him because he is not afraid to voice his opinions about something that DIRECTLY affects him.

Why is ok for some meaningless know-nothing like you to state our opinion...but GEO is not allowed to?

Why is ok for you to express your opinion on kyk but not for kyk to express his opinion on Geo?

eh...there are several posters who rail on Geo ... and it's not too hard to connect their other posts on other topics to make the connection why they're railing on him.

that said, I think people can say whatever they want (within reason)...as long as they're ok taking the heat/criticism for it

I have no idea where you’re getting it that I don’t think kyk shouldn’t be able to say whatever he wants! None at all! But if he is going to express an opinion he has ( which he does all the time) it’s hypocritical of him to say that Geo should stop expressing his.

Now, if Geo said some thing that KYK would agree with, I’m sure he would have no problem with Geo expressing his opinion and wouldn’t call him an entitled baby!
