When it comes to product on the field, tradition, name-value, B12 should add BYU.
The other issues should be able to be resolved (e.g., Sunday scheduling, travel).
The whole "travel partner" thing is overrated. How much does it really help WVU to have Cincy as a "travel partner"?
Even if B12 simply expands for now by 1, adding BYU, it's better than not doing anything. Problem is, beyond BYU, what other school really has the chops football-wise? It'd just be picking someone based on potential. But, if they do, then there's no clear cut team to add.

They might go crazy when nothings happens- thank Oklahoma & Texas and greed

That Sunday thing only affects a couple of minor sports, if I recall correctly. Just don't have BYU in those particular sports. This can easily be worked around.........

Actually the travel partner idea helps the rest of the league not WVU. Scheduling away games at WVU on Sat and Cincy on Monday make sense for many of the long distance trips.
