I believe it was Bianco that hit a chopper to first. Instead of tagging first and getting the out, first baseman throws home. Runner from 3rd beats the tag by a split second. Runners at the corners. 0 outs. Pitcher throws to first about a dozen times. Runner standing up each time. Commentators said he hasn’t stole a base all year. Pitcher balks. Runner scores from 3rd, first goes to second. 8-7 tigers. Base hit. Runner scores from 2nd. 9-7 tigers.

now in top of 9th. One out. Winner goes to Knoxville.

The balk was because the corners were crashing to protect against the suicide but the pitcher pulls out to throws back to 1B but the 1B’er was not holding the runner on since he was crashing….balk!!

Oregon deserved to lose the lead in the 8th with that bs pickoff crap they were pulling but Mainieri almost blew it.

Pitcher was left in no mans land. It was weird, it was like for a split second only the runner were the only two in the picture that knew what had just happened, then everyone caught up. That’s the importance of putting runners on late in a game.
