With his flaws Sanders still would be the most talented Rutgers player.With his potential departure Rutgers offense would take a serious hit and make every out of conference game a potential nail biter.The program took a step forward with Pikiell but could take two steps backward in 2017 with all the departures.The impact on 2018 recruiting certainly won't be enhanced with a Jordan like won/loss record.

This is now Freeman and Williams team (assuming Sanders does leave). From all that I saw Corey Sanders was a good teammate and gave good effort, NO COMPLAINTS. I think the chemistry gets better. Everyone is now an equal.

The face of the program now is a 6'2'' guard that rebounds like a power forward and does all the dirty work. If somehow we can get him to magically shot .400 from 3 watch out.

A big part of Freeman's contributions were cleaning up easy put backs on the weakside glass after Corey drew the help defender. Gettys too for that matter.

Watch how that works out, Opposing teams won't struggle deciding whom to defend. They'll struggle wondering whether there is anyone to defend.

This is, by the way, one of the many reasons that recruiting well is so hard. Even when you hit on a player or two, they don't have to stay and won't if there aren't more good players, putting you back to square one. And it ripples, as the departures put the staff in a difficult place from which to get even more new recruits and keep verbals on board.

The staff can coach. But stepping up recruiting will be much harder to accomplish.

Corey had the basketball in his hands a ton of the time. He averaged 12.8 points per game and 3.2 assists per game.

Worrying about replacing that is like worrying about losing your starting RB who rushed for 1000 yards on 300 attempts.

Or forces the issue more knowing we lose a lot of scoring. How Freeman adjusts will go on long way towards the watchability (coining the phrase) of this team. I tend to stick with the theory that a Zebra doesn't change its stripes, but, let's hope Pike can real him in. He has no consistent offensive game to speak of aside from those put backs.

He was picked as a backup PG to spell the starter and come in for 10 or so minutes per game to move the ball around the court and help the offensive flow. Some guys just don't know how important ball movement is in an offense. Maybe we should just put 5 guys out there all going 1-on1 all game.

Yup. Becoming the sole scorer and needing to therefore take more shots does anything but increase efficiency. In the B1G he will be stufffed.

After tomorrow the fan base will know one more important thing. The next thing that will be on the horizon is Souf Mensah. Depending on tomorrows decision,there is a large chance he sees fifteen+ a game. Mensah is still intriguing. Sanders close family is not even in the loop with his decision. That is a bad sign.

Dadika will not get 15 minutes a game, he is a walk-on for a reason. Yes Pike goes to him to make his point about playing hard and doing what the staff asks, but if you play Dadika 15 minutes a night you're not going to win many games

I highly doubt that Dadika would see significant minutes. If Sanders does leave, the bulk of the minutes will go to Mensah and Baker and I would bet on the staff adding a grad transfer to help out.

We offer a starting PG spot in the B1G. When it comes to recruiting HS players Rutgers is Rutgers. When it comes to recruiting JUCOs and grad transfer PGs Rutgers is now Duke or Michigan State.

That's the problem. We have to be hopeful that there is some grad transfer out there that would accept the challenge of stepping into a B1G starting spot on a weak team. If Dadika is playing 15 mpg, we are about a 7-win team.

I take back what I said about Dadika. However, he is the only person I have seen on a D1 court, and Baker is still physically not all there. And Souf is not on campus. There is not a ton of confidence about the position at the moment. I think it will be sorted out.

I don't think Corey wants to be at RU next year, nor do I think he expects to be in NBA. Based on the SL article, it seems he wants encouragement that he could play in the DLeague and develop his game there.

Agree, the only time I wanna see Dadika is the last 2 minutes of the game....when it's decided.

Passing is very important. Pikiell values the importance of it. This quote from him in an after the season interview explains why he bough in a pass first backup PG.

“I’m not honed in on one area. We finished last in the league. We have to get better in every area. I feel comfortable that we will. We have to shoot the ball better, for sure, foul shots. Passing the ball was a huge concern of mine and we have to get better in that area. We have to get more consistent in every area. We made huge strides this year and hopefully we can make huge strides next year as we continue to move the program forward.”
