It is a fact that he has a year of eligibility left. Under these new rules, he can come back and play for Rutgers. I'm reasonably sure they can give him a pay raise, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind living around here.

Maybe you're right. I'm not sure what the rules are anymore. But this isn't the first I've heard mention of Corey coming back to play a year of college ball. Jerry Carino mentioned it on X.

You hear stories about 28 year old guys coming back to play college basketball. I guess if they went straight from high school to G League, then they don't violate any "5 consecutive" rule. But now your really getting into semantics. LeBron James never played college basketball. Could he finish his career with UCLA or Akron? It sounds like under the current rules, the answer is yes.

The bottom line is I agree with Calipari.
- You get 5 years to play four.
- You're allowed one transfer. After that you have to sit out a year to transfer again unless there is a coaching change.
- Once you declare for a pro draft or play pro ball, you're ineligible to play college ball.
- Get rid of all the exceptions for non-USA players.

5 years to play 4 is a hard rule.
No injury exceptions.
No transfer exceptions.
