Super proud of Corey and am incredibly happy for him. His team lost but it appears statistically he had a really clean and well rounded games.

He played 33 minutes
- Points: 11
- Assists: 3
- Rebounds: 2
- Steals: 1
- Blocks: 2
+/-*: 10

*Only one of his team with a positive +/-

Wish him well on and forms of social media you have. His first bucket was his classic cross into a step back for a long two.

PA guy should read these stats out during a break today... If one of the reasons Omoruyi left was because he thought you can't go pro from Rutgers let's turn the tide.

Second game was much rougher but he wasn't THAT bad. I think Lakeland had a bunch of injuries and needed a body.

I'm really rooting for him. But he needs to fix that J. It's gotten more Lonzo Ball than it was before.

I'll never forget a tremendous quote from a hard core 'Cuse fan when I asked him how Donte Green was doing in the League. To refresh your memory Donte Green was a McDonald's All American who played one year at Syracuse and was selected Number 28 in the 2008 NBA Draft.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donté_Greene

Anyway, this guy's response to my question was as follows:

"I don't give a F*ck what happens to 'em when they take off that uniform"

I feel the same way about Sanders

Long 2s are the worst shot in basketball today. NBA offense is about getting to the rim and making 3s. A guard who can't shoot isn't going to stick unless he's a Russell Westbrook level athlete.

Talking about putting the Genie back in the bottle.....

Maybe we should get rid of cars and go back to horse and buggy...

Just messing around with you Greene. The 3 point shot is here forever. Just surprised they have not come up with the 4 point shot yet.....

Best of Luck,
Groz

It's probably coming. NBA players are shooting 3s from farther and farther away. Damian Lillard practices long 3s now. And he makes them in games.

Let's add a 5 point FG in the NFL while we are at it!

In half seriousness......will there be a point in time where some people will get turned off that the NBA (and college not far behind) has become a 3 point shooting contest with all the ridiculous long range shots being taken.

Last year I watched a quarter of an NBA finals game and every possession it seemed had a moving pick and a bad long range shot (that kept going in).

I am curious if anyone gets a little turned off how the game has evolved?

NBA is unwatchable. The answer to your question is yes.

If a "bad long range shot" keeps going in, is it really a "bad long range shot"?

I'm always intrigued by the college basketball fans who say "I can't stand the NBA. They keep making all these shots!"

Never realized missed shots were so in-demand.

No it’s a good shot....and that has become the problem. Make them 2 pointers and they are bad. The shooting is too good. If you move the line back it gets even more ridiculous

We can only dream of a day when the biggest criticism of RU basketball is that the shooting is too good.

So people are basically saying that the NBA is unwatchable because the players are so skilled that they make shots? I'd much rather watch the NBA. Even good college teams struggle to run a decent pick and roll, shoot the ball consistently well, or execute basic half court sets.

His comment was intended to be a generality, but was likely directed more specifically at Greene, who was never popular at Syracuse. He was supposed to be the second Carmelo Anthony, one of the nations top recruits and even taller than Carmelo and a better shooter (so-called). They said he was 6-11 when they announced his height.

While having a fun likeable personality, Greene was a terrible ball hog and gunner. He was the tallest starter on the team, but he just stayed on the perimeter and shot 3-pointers, again and again. Once Big East play started, they stopped going in, but he never stopped shooting them. Syracuse lost game-after-game and missed the NCAA, and then Greene was gone - off to a mediocre NBA career.

It’s my favorite argument made on here.
Imagine the football argument - “I don’t like completed passes. It makes the game too easy. I prefer 10-3 with runs up the middle and incomplete passes.”
Oh wait - we do have people making that argument on the football side.

When you ask what was arguably the most exciting NCAA tourney game last year:
Purdue vs. Virginia - Elite 8

80-75 score that had both teams making ridiculous shots.
Didn’t see many people saying “Carson Edwards keeps making all these shots. This is boring.”

The hate for the NBA on these boards is irrational.

The best athletes in the world and people love to hate on the NBA. The playoffs becomes almost like chess matches, with teams trying to change and make adjustments as the series moves on.

Greene

The better shooting from deep has forced defenses to play defense 25 feet from the basket and not sit back and crowd things up. The game is more athletic now than it has ever been

And that comes from a purist.

maybe, but watching 1/3 of possessions with a 3 pointer being jacked up sint my cup of tea....constant high moving picks and pops are not my thing

There’s a middle ground between no shot clock Dean Smith 4 corners and stalling nonsense and a clogged paint area and just coming down court with a 24 second shot clock and doing nothing but jacking up 35 footers.

To me, it’s a lot like the evolution of major league baseball in the last 50 years. I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed 1967-68 MLB with a .301 batting champ and ERAs in 1’s nor do find it compelling to watch guys doing nothing but swing for the fences today. Yeah, there’s more scoring but it doesn’t make it more entertaining.
