I've seen a few games Bolds played via TV/internet , against good opponents (N NJ Parochials). He has a tendency to take plays off, not always play hard. But when he does turn it on, he gets good penetration into the backfield, and has good athleticism for his size. He's worth a schollie for sure, hoping he can get in much better condition and be coached up;
Injury and illness played a part in that.

Seriously, I've never heard that one before. Where did you hear this information? Your local Petroleum distribution engineer or a valid source?

Still questions if he has qualified yet. Not sure he has.

That is from your other Rutgers site and it has always been a question with Bolds. Not sure why you haven't heard about it. It was one of the main reasons his options dried up or some schools stopped recruiting him as they filled up with other DL.

What other site are you referring to? Not sure where you heard this, haven't seen anything on the Round table.

Sorry it didn't show up in paste. From your 247 site. I'm a PSU fan and it was pretty common info over there he had work to do.. Doesn't mean he hasn't and he could be a great get for your team.

OOOOooo:eek: 247site I definitely would take what they say with a huge grain of salt. We just had a story from them of a commit who really wasn't a commit and hadn't even visited yet. They have no integrity on what they post. They just want to be the 1st to post it factual or not.

I agree they are not the best sometimes but I meant common info on the PSU. Maybe its off but it was a common theme. Anyway time will tell. Didn't know it never was said over here.

I think a lot these kids don't realize what they perceive as offers in August are not the same as a committable offer in January. Qualifying can become another issue as many offers are contingent on being qualified.

Could you explain the difference between an offer and a commitable offer? I don't understand how that works.

Yes it's true Michigan backed off because of grades. Yes-a lot of schools backed off because of grades. No one knows for certain (other than his inner circle) if he will qualify. If he does, would be a great late get. He could go tell the PC kids it's actually pretty great here and maybe Clayton just didn't fit in here. He could also get a $15K bag of money on his Ole Miss trip and we would be done. We've always been recruiting him. He's a good to great player at a position of dire need.

I think we know our situation is a chicken or the egg situation. Take the best players we can get now so hopefully will help us win thus getting the MAJORITY of the top 10 to stay home. Some kids don't want to build a winner-most just want to fit in and be a part of a winner already. Some want to build it from the ground up. Identifying the be a part of a winner (Singleton, Hansard) versus wanting to build it from the ground up (Clark, Melton) is the key to the Rutgers Head Coch at this point. Bolds could be either. But he's a talented player and you fight for him until he signs the LOI somewhere else.

A commitable offer means that if the player called the headcoach today that he wanted to commit the coach would accept it.

I think he is down to limited options and so are we. I'm not terribly high on him but if we take him we'll see what happens.

don't want to force you to harshly dissect the recruit - but -are you saying that:
(1.) you have now formed a less than spectacular set of expectations specifically regarding on-field athletic potential?
or
(2.) are you expressing concerns about outlook & mind set & how successfully the heavy work load of scholastic / social / athletic activities and commitments would be able to be effectively manged?

as they say - you can't teach a kid to be - 6' 3" - 275lb. -certainly - if focused & inspired it would seem that he could be a promising contributor
and of course - if unfocused & uninspired .... well, it just becomes a whole lot of 'could-a been a contender' .. and gee wasn't high school fun ...

Todderick mentions in a video posted today on nj that Bolds did have some academic things to work through.

I wonder if the "180" on Bolds is due to the fact Ash and Co. went all in on Dayln Wade Perry and couldn't reel him in?

Doubt it, it always seemed like DWP was looking to leave the state, plus I am not sure the staff did a "180" on Bolds, maybe a "100".

well we need multiple DTs... its a bit puzzling if we weren't pursuing Wade-Perry, Bolds AND Romelo Martin all at once.

Maybe some aren't interested?
sure of course, but for Rutgers to ignore Bolds/Martin and only pursue DWP would not make sense

if Rutgers is "doing a 180 or a 100" that means that Bolds was already interested to begin with.

Who said that they ignored Bolds/Martin?

Both sides have to have interest. Either or both sides interest can change over time. My point of RU doing not doing a "180" is that it is not clear where he ranks with some of the other DL recruits RU is considering.

That other site has Romelo Martin 100% RU. Accurate?
247 does that off of journalists making predictions for those projections and what they've heard, so doesn't really mean too much other than being nice to see.

Anyone would look better when the guy along side of you is the top DL recruit in the country. It's natural that your film will not be as impressive when he is doubled and the focus of the other team's game planning is on him. The kid is a player. Seems he flirted with Michigan initially but has been a Penn State lean for some time- his sin was not committing there when he had the chance - now it seems they are full. So its RU and Mississippi - still, not bad choices - I hope he comes here.
