This has, in fact, been quite revealing. How many other good, well-coached teams have lost 9 in a row or every single one of their conference games, and we didn't know about them? There's at least two, which is two more than I thought. There's no question about that. That's now been proven. But how many more? For all I know, there could be dozens.
Two replies from you and you fail to answer the questions which are quite simple to answer. Even a fifth grader can answer. Can u give it a try?
Tom Crean went 1-17, 4-14 and 3-15 in his first 3 years in the Big 10, with full rosters. Thank god for Indy he was not fired.
Actually Indiana had been hit with major sanctions thanks to Kelvin Sampson. He did not have full rosters.
Craig Littlepage went 8-21, 8-20, 7-22 his first the years coaching Rutgers. Thank Good Rutgers didn't . . . . Oh, whoops. Well, never mind. I'm sure we all get your point. There are no doubt more examples of coaches who have a record settingly, historic bad first three years who go on to wild success rather than those who continue to lose or are fired and don't do much elsewhere. No need to list them. I'm sure the wild-success list is much, much longer. Check. We're with ya.
So this example is the one most closely aligned to Rutgers.....a national scandal or sanctions leads to decimated rosters and a horrible 3 year run.......then recover
Decimated roster in 2013-14? Mack, Seagears, Moore, Kone, Étou, Judge, Jack, Lewis, Campbell, Brown, Okoro.
Most of these guys were signed before the Rice scandal. Not a great roster but unfortunately just about the same as this season's.
Eddie delayed the rebuild by keeping Cox and Macon, and I don't blame him because he probably couldn't fill the roster out with two of his own assistants. But it was his choice.
Robert Ray - fired year 3
2012–13 Mississippi State 10–22 4–14 T–12th
2013–14 Mississippi State 14–19 3–15 14th
2014–15 Mississippi State 13–19 6–12 T–11th

Some thought Ray deserved another year because of some of the problems he faced, even though the coach he replaced was 20-12 when he stepped down MSU was rumored ready to replace him. That HC retired, then took a position as a Tex A&M assistant shortly afterwards.
That HC was 293-165 with 6 NCAA bids and 5 NIT appearances in the the 14 years he was MSU's HC.
I would say Ray stepped into a winning program, where Eddie needs to build one
Ben Howland was hired to replace Ray at a reasonable $2 mil salary .
If RU would bring in someone like Howland, no whining from me about Eddie being replaced.
But if just a low cost gamble is the choice, will hope Jordan is given one more year to prove himself because of the type of obstacles he has encountered , from the beginning.
Everyone agrees the team lacks shooters. We add one player we like (Nigel) but his shooting percentages are a shade below 30 percent from beyond the arc.
They don't have a looser mentality. There is no quit in them. They play hard to the end. Over matched.
