Connor was a top 100 recruit. He was a solid contributor and brought toughness to every game. His outside antics shouldn’t blind you to that.

He would’ve played for Ben’s squad this year. He has also burned some bridges and his influence on CC might be very bad for the university. We need her to stay connected to us. When was the last time she was in Carver?
He absolutely could not play for Ben. Cmac couldn’t defend. Tell me what position you’d have him guard for Ben, and I’ll have a quick laugh.

Agree with this, although he had toughness unlike his brother. He also couldn't shoot. The bounce pass should not be the be all end all for a basketball player unless you are part of a family run business.

I think he was a good enough recruit out of high school to be at a Missouri Valley type school. He wouldn’t have played there and then had to transfer to a really low Division one league or D2/D3. I wonder what the experience with Heller was like for baseball. I know he put up bad numbers when he played on the baseball team.
He wouldn't have had a chance to play baseball for Iowa had it not been for fran.

Fran’s defensive system was so broken. It’s difficult to accurately gauge a player’s defensively abilities. I remember him being a solid rebounder for his size.
He had a 2 inch vertical. Name the last 6'5" guy to play as much as Connor without touching the rim. The kingsbury bench warmer was twice the athlete and player.

When the best interests of a program/team are the same as the best interests of a family in a father/son coaching relationship, it can be a magical thing. Just look at Doug McDermott at Creighton, AJ Green at UNI, and Tucker Devries at Drake. All were legendary players playing for their dad, unquestioned best players on their teams.

Unfortunately Iowa got the complete opposite experience with Brian Ferentz (coaching) and the McCaffrey’s. And when the Iowa coaches had to decide between the best interests of their family and the program, well we know they picked their families. And it hurt Iowa immensely.

Wow that sucks that so many close to home coaching families were home runs. And we had to endure what seems like around 412 starts by the McCaffrey compared to a a fraction of that by high NBA draft picks. Add Biff Ferentz in and it makes me want a nepotism rule in place about any family member even being allowed in the building anymore...

As someone said though, Connor was a top 100 player. Now that may be distorted because he was in the radar very early due to his dad being a coach and was never really recruited so he was kind of locked in there. To me the best measure of a players value is his offer sheet. I'll let coaches consensus tell me who is good and who is not (i.e. Iowa's underwhelming QBs that were 4 stars but lack many major offers). But to say he was a D2/D3 player is a bad look people.

But back to the original topic here, his attitude sucks. His dad's whole Temu Bobby Knight act got old. One actually won stuff and even he got fired eventually. Obviously Knight crossed more lines but don't think Indiana wouldn't have kept him if he was still winning championships. He still ended up coaching again elsewhere in a major conference. And the stories of the mom being obnoxious and causing disturbances at games rounds out the crew. The entire family acts like ******** toddlers not getting their way. He and his brother should be thankful they started as many games as they did in front of players out of their league, literally. Instead he wants to act petty because his over-reactionary under-achieving dad got fired for poor results.

I don’t think CC is going to let her BF’s butt hurt feelings towards IC affect her with them. I wouldn’t read much of her not being at a game in carver this year. last year she was and at every women’s big 10 tourney game.

she beloved in IC and probably have a statue one day. Either Connor gets over the U firing his dad after 15 yr run or he will stay home. But see this having little to no effect on her relationship with the Iowa as well as having Jan in charge of the women’s team.

I always said 2 things inflated mccaffery boys ranking. Name and age. Both were 19 yr old seniors. Not saying they weren’t D1 level but would they have been rated as high if coming out of HS year a year earlier.

with name fair or not how many times is a kids ranking inflated cause of being coaches son or dad a former player. Bronny James ultimate example. He’s not a McDonald’s all American if his name is bronny Jackson whose dad never played in the nba. Or I remember decade ago Husker fans losing it because they got 4* wr Keyshawn Johnson jr who flamed out and never did anything anywhere else. Fact is they were over rated no fault of their own.

I see Cmax hasn’t posted in a bit of time. He’s probably too busy helping butler to a, checks notes, 4-8 league record. Boiler up.

Ben wants everyone on the floor to be able to hit the three...cmac..not so much.
Closest to to cmac is Isaiah Howard, but he is a much more explosive athlete
