Hard to tell if a post like this is sarcastic. But, given that they will be going to a bowl based on their APR, then I echo the congratulations.
Was wondering which alley they are visiting.
Details? Will the bumpers be in place on the lanes?

minnesota is also going. Illinois is next up and needs a team or two to lose. What this also says is that we have some mediocre teams at the bottom of the conference, but we also have programs that do things the right way. Id love to know what schools didnt get invites because of their APR scores.
I am happy for Nebraska. I generally root for their team and like their fans, except when they are playing Northwestern, of course. They lost a lot of close games this year. I think they are better then their record indicates.
I'm poking fun at mighty Nebraska for taking a bowl at 5-7. They were 5-7 and are going bowling so I want to mock and ridicule them.
I think every team should go bowling. With the amount of money involved in college football, I'd make every school take their team on a trip and have them play 1 game to show case the team. Since there is little football on after the championship games this weekend, you could play 1-2 games a day and give every school a prime time spot.
I do think APR is a good way to go about it.
At least I agree with the last two sentences. Nebraska has not yet received an invite but cornnation.com reports the two most likely landing spots will be Santa Clara or Detroit. Curious if their fans will bother to go all the way to California to see a 5-7 team play or if Detroit would garner a bigger Husker crowd. My guess is that the school itself is already lobbying for Foster Farms hoping that the fan base can be sold on going somewhere warm over somewhere closer.
FWIW cornnation.com does claim that Nebraska has the highest APR of the available 5-6 teams.

Of course our win over that juggernaut Eastern Illinois is probably our most impressive win.
My memory is going fuzzy with old age, but I seem to remember what 5-7 feels like, with a lot of close losses. I'm sure that the Nebraska fans are quoting Oscar Wilde on sarcasm as they read your congratulations.
Then again, perhaps you are a cog in a karmic machine. Years ago, before they left the Big XII, Nebraska played Colorado on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Colorado had a fight song, "Glory Colorado" played to the tune of The Battle Hymn of the Republic chorus. As the annual beat down of Colorado unfolded, the Nebraska fans would sing, "You're not going to a bowl game....Watch NU on TV".
Some of our old timer players had a credo: win with grace and lose with dignity. I keep hoping against hope that this might be passed onto a new generation.

Sadly, that vaunted EIU squad lost to that noted football powerhouse, Northern Iowa, in the first round of the playoffs this weekend. Northern Iowa must have had more former FBS players....
That's too bad because I was counting on NU's hard fought but impressive 41-0 win over EIU to boost NU into a New Year's 6 bowl game. It's a devastating hit to NU's strength of schedule as I now fear Barry Alvarez, Condolizza Rice and the other CFP committee members will have to discount that impressive win over a team loaded with BCS level talent.
I'm sure there had to be a time zone issue or stiffness involved from a long bus ride or something that adversely impacted EIU's performance against Northern Iowa.
I think this is BS. One of the prizes of going to a bowl is that you get to keep practicing but the other crappier teams can't. That's an advantage for us. We didn't get to go to bowls the last 2 years with 5-7 records, so I don't they should.
The bowls that can't field teams should simply be taken out back and shot. Nobody needs them. They shouldn't even exist. Artificially propping up bowls with crappy, losing teams just so some fat cats can make a buck is everything that's wrong with college football.
On the other hand the Ig Ten shares revenue gained from the bowls. With that said shouldn't Delaney demand all Big Ten teams to accept a bowl of offered.
I suspect the institution's Pres along with the AD and HC handle bowl accept or reject invitations rather than an outside individual like Delaney, as it should be -- suggest rather than demand might be a more workable model imo.

I wish we could have gone bowling two seasons ago with all those close loses. It would have given the team a chance to vindicate itself. That was a pretty good team. Even last year if enough guys could have gotten healthy, they did beat some good programs.

It is confusing. They have the extra work required which justifies one part of the bonus but do not have the accomplishment that is usually required for the other part of the bonus.
The coach and assistants would have the better legal case since ambiguity in a contract is construed against the drafter. At least that is the law in Alaska. The reference to "tweaking the language" in the future suggests the contract as presently written requires payment of bonuses if the team goes to a bowl period.
