Yes.

That 1996 team has quite a few head coaches. Mark Pope, Allen Edwards, Scott Padgett (technically redshirted in 96), Walter McCarty, am I missing anyone?
It's amazing how many guys from Pitino's time here have gone into coaching:

Reggie Hanson
John Pelphrey
Sean Woods
Travis Ford
Dale Brown
Walter McCarty
Mark Pope
Scott Padgett
Allen Edwards
Steve Masiello

Excited for Mark. What a great representative of UK!

Easter 97 I went to my one and only NBA game. Knicks at Pacers. Just so happened Pope was signing before the game. I was last person in line.
I will never forget the way he come to life when he saw my 96 championship shirt. He grinned big and pointed and said that is really a great shirt.
I said yes it is and what a great pleasure it was to watch that team.
Pope is really a cool guy. You can not fake the way he acted just seeing that shirt I was wearing. He looked like a kid at Christmas.

I met Pope in Indianapolis during the FF in 1997, in the Mall next to the RCA Dome. He was doing some work for Ch 18 in Lexington at the time. He was super cool, a very funny guy. Definitely a favorite of mine.

I haven't watched it forever, but the VHS video they put out for the 96 championship team has Pope at the front of the bus when it pulls directly onto the Rupp floor and his reaction was great. he also talked about when they drove past the cemetery on the way to Rupp for the celebration and the guys digging the hole started waving their shovels at them.

Yes but at the same time we can’t ignore how many followed Pricktino’s immoral path (Woods, Ford, Masiello). Love them all for wearing blue but their problems while coaching can be attributed to Pitino’s influence as easily as reaching a position can be.

Very happy for Pope, I enjoyed him as a player at UK and he always seems to keep his ties to UK and is appreciative of his time here. Wish him the best at BYU.

I remember a BYU fan tried convincing me that they had a bigger fan base than anyone else. I laughed a little in the inside.

Just watched the 96 title game this afternoon. Not a great game individually for Mark but he held his own.

Congrats to him. Hope he becomes a current day Saint.

That '96 team is still and probably always will be, my favorite UK team. Just so much amazing talent there. Those players still seem bigger than life to me and so much swag!
Congrats Mark Pope and Always Best Wishes to The Untouchables!

With six kids i'd think not ...what is wrong with people living a life they think is the right thing to do because you probably think you should screw everything in site evidently.

Screwdriver happy you called our friend sluggercatfan?
I think he is a baseball player, not a screwercatfan.[laughing]

He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

Are you a member? Just curious, but I got called out in this by my stepson. Learned they prefer using the full name of the church rather than Mormon or LDS.

He’s been at MTC in Salt Lake since Feb. Leaves Monday for Japan on his mission. My wife went to BYU and UVU.
