Congrats to Louie Dampier

One of my favorite Cats and I still think he was the best pure shooter to ever wear the Blue and White. Hall of Fame along with Coach Cal. This makes his fans happy and now he is immortal in the Hall of Fame. Thank you for the memories Louie.

That is so true and he proved it when he became a pro. He set all kinds of records from the 3 point line. He was so smooth with his shot and I am so thankful I saw everyone of his games at Memorial Coliseum. Great memories. We could have used a shooter like Louie Saturday night.

When I was in high school playing basketball, Louie was my favorite player and is still my favorite Cat of all time. What a shooter. It's a shame there was no 3 point line then.

I thought it was amazing that even when they called Cal's name for being inducted, the fans were still yelling "Lou, Lou, Lou".

He must have been really well thought of.

UofL fan here: Congrats to Louie. I never saw him play, but when I was in my 20's I played in a softball league with him. This was well after he had left basketball, he was probably in his early 40s. He was much older than the rest of us but still the best athlete out there and one helluva nice guy to boot. Always took the time to talk to people that approached him about basketball, was always gracious to everyone even when you could tell they were holding him up from doing something. And on the field he always had fun.

So while I don't know much about Louie the player, Louie the person was pretty cool. If every athlete of his ability level and stature had the same type of personality Louie has, sports in general would have a much better reputation.

my all time favorite. When I was 8 I cut my sleeves out of one of my t shirts and wrote Dampier on the back with a magic marker.And a no. 10 on it to boot. My Mom about went nuts. Said they had been saving for months to buy me that t shirt.

Congrats to Louie, definitely. I only saw him play a few games with the Colonels and maybe a couple of NBA games. How many former UK players are in the Basketball Hall of Fame?
