It could 1) really hurt us with the potential of no point guard coming in, and 2) if the two-year rule is adopted, you know other 'top' point guard recruits might cross off Duke immediately if they feel Tre is going to be there for two season's.

This made me think of Shaun Livingston.

This made me think of Shaun Livingston.

And it makes UNC fans think of J.R. Smith.

It's a scary reality for a lot of teams. I mean, wasn't Smith a borderline top-10 kid in his class who just blew up in the McDonald's game and rode that momentum into a first-round pick? I think Monta Ellis did something similar. Remember the Diallo (sp) kid from Kansas a few years back? People said if he could have left after the McDonald's game he would have been a top five pick. Instead, he went to Kansas and rode the bench much of year because he just wasn't ready. I'm not sure he even got drafted.

I think Duke will be fine, maybe even benefit when the one and done era is over, the kids who know they are not NBA ready,or may never be,will want to go to Duke to receive a quality education and play for the best program available..my concern is for all the kids who think they are NBA ready, what happens to them when their dreams are shattered and they realize they are not good enough,at least not right out of high school.will they then be eligible to play college ball,or is that door going to be closed to them?,i'm thinking there will be some sort of time frame that will still allow them attend college and play basketball.

I believe we will be great, yes. I was just saying it's pretty awesome seeing the NBA full of Duke alums killing it.

Does anyone know when the rule us supposed to change????

The earliest would be for the 2019 class, or 2019-20 season. It could be the 2020 class, though, too....still TBD.

There has been rumors that it would begin 2019. We are heavy favorites for Vernon Carey in the 2019 class, Carey is #1 or 2 overall depending on which site you use, meaning he is obviously OAD or "none and done."

Ultimately the NBA will be the ones who determine when the rule goes into effect. One thing is for sure, Adam Silver acts very quickly on things, so I wouldn't be shocked if this news is released sometime within the next year or so.

My only hope (I am fine either way, OAD or new rule) is that the rule change maybe gets announced in 2019 to take effect in 2020 for example. Meaning...I don't want this rule announced and then 2 weeks later we lose our whole recruiting class because they are all good enough to go to the NBA out of HS. Let's hope that we can recruit once we know the rule's terms and time frame.

I think we all lose a little interest now and then, but I think a lot of it comes from the ups and downs of a season. When we have high expectations, especially like this year, things tend to test us, like the inconsistency of this team. We can't understand why this team can't figure it out, we know what we want, why don't they!
Well, no matter what happens the rest of the way, I am and will be a Duke fan, and I have not given up on this team yet, nor will I.
I would love for these kids to just say to themselves, one last time, that they are going to refuse to lose, and just take us on one last winning streak, but who knows what will happen, there are no guarantees, so just enjoy the ride while it lasts.
Oh yeah, and if you think that this team cannot win #6, you are delusional.
Go Duke!
