Conference 29

Who is everyone's pick to win it? I really think the 3A state champ will come from this conference once again. Currently, the top 6 are Turner Ashby, Monticello, Spotswood, Broadway, Stuarts Draft, and Waynesboro. I like Spotswood and Broadway in the championship game and Monticello over TA in the consolation game. I think Waynesboro is a team to watch, they lost to TA by 2 and to Monticello in OT. I also think Broadway is playing pretty well right now and will upset TA (for the second time this year) in the semis.

Picks are this:
TA 75, Fort 40
Monticello 65, Western 40
Spotswood 55, Waynesboro 51
Broadway 62, Stuarts Draft 47

Semis:
Broadway55, TA 47
Spotswood 60, Monticello 50

Championship:
Spotswood over Broadway, 63-55

Consolation:
Monticello over TA, 58-48

Good post valleydist13. I think Spotswood, Broadway, and TA will be the 3 that come out of 29. You are on to something with Waynesboro, they have been playing very well lately and I have to wonder just how much better they would have been had their star Brie Moore not gotten injured before the season. Stuarts Draft is another team that has been on a little hot streak beating some quality 2A teams. Broadway played really well in the game I saw them but I only got to see them once, and I actually have them as the favorite to win 29, but again, only based off seeing them once. I think TA will really put it to Fort, and I hope Fort can get things turned around next season.

Interesting. Even though I"m a Spotswood fan, I do not see the chemistry with them to win it this year. They may not even make it out of the conference. Monticello has given them fits this year and they could face them in the semis (I do think they will get by Waynesboro). My pick to win it is actually TA. I like Broadway, but I think TA has a better all around game and their coach is great in tournaments (not saying the other coaches aren't, but Coach Lovell has a ton of experience at this). Just my pick.

This is definitely the deepest conference in 3a as they have four teams in the top 10 in the preps poll and a fifth team in the honorable mention list. Should be an interesting conference tournament.

Well 3 out of the 4 we thought would win 1st round games have advanced. We just have to get Monticello and Western on the court. Your scores were pretty accurate valley dist 13.

Best Basketball in the State...TONIGHT

Come out to Turner Ashby HS tonight to watch arguably the four best 3A teams in the state take on each other in the Conference 29 semifinals.

6 pm- Turner Ashby vs. Broadway
7:45 pm - Spotswood vs. Monticello

Can't make it out tonight? Tomorrow will be just as exciting!
Also at TA..
6 pm- Consolation Game
7:45 pm- Championship Game

Three of these teams will advance to regionals.

I'm going to stick with my original predictions, but could honestly see any of these 4 teams emerging as Conference Champion. Can't wait to see how it all plays out!

Why do 3 teams from Conf 29 advance to Regionals when most other conferences only advance 2 teams? Just curious because I don't understand how they come up with this. Thanks in advance.

Region 3A West decided that since two of their conferences (29 & 31) have more members than the other two conferences, they would reward them with an extra berth into regional tournaments. So for regionals, there is a play in game to make it to the actual quarterfinal. 29 #3 will travel to 31 #2 and 29 #2 will host 31 #3. Hope that makes sense.

It does and appreciate the input. I was just confused by it all. Football is much easier to figure out when it comes to seedings than basketball.

You have been spot on valleydist13... broadway beat ta by 8 tonight, exact point differential that you predicted (i think you picked at least another game like that)... If everything else goes as you have predicted, I may have to take you to vegas, so we can make some big money betting on ncaa march madness

Thats how they finished in the tourney... I think 29 has 3 teams capable of winning the state championship.

You are correct. I believe any one of those 3 teams are more than capable of winning states. I thought Hidden Valley would be in there as well since they are hosting the West Regional. I don't know what happenned to them though. They fell apart the last month of the season and didn't even make it out of their conference. Does anyone know how the conference matchups will work this year?
