What has happened to this program. I know new schools have been built which students were pulled to other schools. At one time this was a powerhouse football school that gave AL Brown good classic football games, what is called the Battle of the Bell. That rival has went down over the past 10 years or so. But losing to South Rowan 27-10 tells me that program has really fallen off. They are 1-4 and did beat North Gaston 42-0. Will they ever recover to what they were at one time or have they become the new “ South Rowan” that fell off when Carson was built.

With so much growth to Cabarrus County... The dynamics have changed that County a lot over the years...
Leadership in cabarrus said “concord will never be know for athletics again” and it has happened. So unless someone that fights for the school gets back into the school system I doubt it will ever be back. Could even see it close down.
Don’t look now, but S Rowan has as good a team as they’ve had in quite some time. Those kids have put in some work in the offseason, and it’s showing up on Friday nights. Their only blemish this season is a 5 point loss at NWC. That being said, they still have some tough conference games ahead with W Rowan and JMR. I guess we’ll find out some more about them in the weeks to come.
I’m still not sold on SR they have played a pretty weak schedule.
Hate to see this out of Concord. Was not long ago they were legit.
South Rowan will be at home against West Rowan next Friday. I’m seriously thinking about going to that game. We will find out more about who both of these teams are.
Concord isn't in the growth areas of the county so they don't get a ton of young athletes in their zone. That being said, they were a 2nd round playoff team last season. It's a down year, but everyone has gone through it at some point.
It's a good senior group and they're bought into who they are as a team. They can't be taken lightly.
I was talking about the county growth in general... Plus you add in new schools that has been built over the last 20 years... THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING IN THAT COUNTY...

I miss those great games between Forest Hills and Concord back when I was in high school in the 80s. Coach Smith and Coach Lowery were great friends and it was always a close battle. Hate seeing the Spiders program not being a top team.
If they close Concord - I think that would be a travesty and It prob wont happen but never say never.
West is definitely legit, will be interesting to see how a couple games go in the SPC.
Team finished 1-10 and was easily the worst in school history. Do they retain the coach? If he leaves who do you even go after? Not entirely sure the coach is bad either and theirs not hope in the middle school level either.
Coach is probably going to be a AP so he won’t be able to coach once hired.
Wonder what applicants they get, can’t imagine its enticing like it was 10 years ago

Jupiter would be more of the same, he had a goldmine of talent in Harrisburg and took it for granted. I think Mormon is done at NW, I think there will be a mural interest in him stepping down.
I have a ton of respect for coach Wilson. Coach Wilson yes his last yr or 2 at HR wasn’t great but I disagree that he took it for granted and also that area is very competitive with JMR, Cox Mill, Chambers and such all within 10-15 miles etc and also I think he gets the most out of his players but he a Players Coach!
Also I agree with u about Mormon n NWC - that’s why I think he could possibly be interested in concord
Would Mormon be willing to take on that challenge. Not taking anything away from concord, but right now there is no talent coming up in the next couple of years.
Gotta get somebody that attracts some talent and can build a pipeline. Greiner would be a home run hire if he could stay out of trouble.
The same kids he had are in the building. They wouldn’t play. New coach and all the sudden they played for a conference championship. This is not me guessing, this is me having direct information.
Like I said: Coach Wilson is great coach! He went 31-33. I mean That isn’t bad but I agree it could been better but Coach is a good one so. We can agree to disagree
