Very interesting subject, I know I've seen this play out a few times. High IQ folks tend to have an extremely active mind and often need a way to quiet that. I'd suspect the increase in income and/or time available for leisure plays a role as well.

Not me though. I drank because generally I'm a walking moron, but it turned me into a GENIUS.

I noticed the study did not mention the loss of brain cells due to alcohol consumption, which would factor into lower IQ later in life.

Is it against your Christian faith, preacher, or do you just not want it/like it? I've always wondered how protestant pastors felt about alcohol, because growing up Catholic - that wasn't a thing I ever thought about lol

For me, I am completely 100% in favor of freedom to drink alcohol as long as it is in moderation, principally meaning you don't harm yourself or others as the result of drinking. I even preached a sermon about that in seminary.
