All the cable cord cutters are putting the heat on cable providers. Sports are a huge cost and apparently the rich deals that were negotiated aren't paying off. Look to see that financial pressure begin to work down the chain

Isn’t ESPN getting killed on the deals it made for college football? Or was it other contracts?

Comcast?? My cable provider? Glad I have season tickets, and hope we do really well this year so games are on ESPN, etc.

Possible alternative for cable cutters is DirecTV Now. It is DirecTV's internet streaming service. I pay $35/month for about 100 channels which includes the primary Big 10 Network channel. It doesn't lose the picture in a rainstorm!

This. DirectTV Now is INSANELY good. I've had it go down once in three months so far, with some of the worst weather we've ever had here. And it was back up within the hour. You do need a decent broadband connection for it to work well, though, especially if you have a number of streams operating in the house. I have 100 mb download speed, though I suspect that it works OK at lower download speeds as well.

You can also get Roku-enabled TVs now-- where streaming DirectTV Now and other streams, such as NetFlix and Hulu, is an absolute snap.

The question I have on a DIRECTV Now is the alternative channels. I think all our BTN games last year were on the main channel, but if it isn’t, are DTVN people SOL? More concerned about DVR capabilities frankly, as watching the game on TV after I get home from Ryan Field is mandatory.

I watch a lot of streamed rugby but do not know how to “DVR” games from ROKU

Any suggestions

BTN to go. They generally replay most if not all of the games on BTN but often you only get a condensed version

No, BTN2Go does not work on Apple TV nor Android TV. All you can do with Apple TV is play the game on BTN2Go on your phone and mirror it to your Apple TV.

I can vouch for PlayStation Vue. The package I have costs $45 and includes three BTN alternates. I use a FireTV stick to access.

Hulu live has DVR capabilities. I believe 50 hours of storage comes with the base package, you can buy more space if you need it

I just dropped Hulu for their Lara Ingraham boycott. I had them for almost two years Hulu live is pretty good at $49 a month. I didn't like that you could only use it at one location however. I think the cable companies should do cafeteria programming. You can add the networks you want and not pay for the ones you don't want. I believe Spectrum is going to offer this soon.

Too bad, I cut the cable and was leeching off my daughter's Comcast and then Chromecast btn2go to my TV.

But... I live in Maryland so it's ok right?

Do you have a Roku device? Roku and similar streaming devices work a lot like this, where you pick and choose the streaming apps you want.

I looked at Direct TV they didn't offer Fox news live.

Lol, I am watching Tucker on DirectTV Now right now. Unless I am misunderstanding you? There are four tiers of Now, though, don't know if they all offer Fox News.

Just did the research on this (as I live in a non-big 10 area these days). Ended up going with Roku ($90/one time) + Hulu Live ($40/mo + $15/mo for HBO). Setting it up was a snap (did it in 5 minutes this morning) and very happy so far. Plus access to "It's Always Sunny" episodes.

Your suggestion is why ESPN is in trouble. ESPN was receiving money from every cable subscriber when it was part of the basic channels but it is now losing income because of the menu format that you have suggested
