One time zone instead of three. One time zone isn't a big deal, it's like when we play in Ohio or something.
Big Ten teams travelling more than one time zone are 9-19 since the West coast teams joined. West coast teams are 8-8 travelling east, but Oregon is 4-0, and they've simply been a superior team. Washington is 0-4, and USC is now 1-3 after looking bad against a genuinely dreadful Rutgers team (a Rutgers team which, again, is 0-3 with a blowout loss to UMass and losing to a bad BC program).
The west coast teams are also 5-11 against the spread in these games. There is a statistically significant amount of underperformance related to the travel.
The record for east coast teams is even worse: eastern and central teams are 6-22 on the west coast. 6 and 22!! The eastern teams are 3-4 against a poor UCLA program and 1-5. 1-6. amd 1-7 against Washington, Oregon, and USC repectively. So USC is 1-3 going east and 0-4 against the spread but is 7-1 hosting. Meanwhile, when the teams in the central and east play each other the home team wins anout 58% of the time and are basically 50-50 against the spread.
Anyways, Rutgers is -3 and got blown out by UMass and they ******* suck.
