Is it @hawkbirch that lives in Westcliffe? There is a fire sort of in the neighborhood that caused the evacuation of Bishop Castle and Beulah.

Hot and windy and dry in the USA southwest.

Hi! I am in Westcliffe and the fire is maybe 10-12 miles from my house. We are just north of the line for the fire advisory which is basically start making a plan in case you need to evacuate. I’m not overly concerned strictly because the wind pushed the head of the fire east and away from us. So far the biggest inconvenience is that they closed highway 96 which is our route to Pueblo so instead of an hour it’ll now take 2 hours to get there. It’s probably worth driving to Colorado Springs at this point.

Bishops Castle is so far undamaged which is nice. Tonight they are having a meeting with homeowners near where the fire started to let them know if they still have a home left. We got a small amount of rain this afternoon with chances of rain every day for the rest of the week. Hoping that helps get more control of it. And maybe get some of the smoke out of the air.
The first pic is from the day the fire started and taken from our road. The second shows the air quality since about Sunday.

How are your "boys?"

With the fire breathing down your neck, do you regret pretending that big ol' phaggots like @TarponSpringsNole is a woman?

My boys are good. They were all here from the 26th to the 5th so they got a front row seat to what is happening. Unfortunately it basically ruined most of our plans because everything got canceled with the fire. But for them to get a reprieve from the heat was nice too.

I’m not sure what @TarponSpringsNole has to do with anything but no, I don’t regret anything I believe in and especially when it comes to stuff that doesn’t impact a single thing in my life.

Oh, yeah! A tranny doesn't affect anything in your life when you pretend he's a woman!

Hi @3boysmom. I downloaded your app you suggested. We will be in Breck next week but not sure if we will stay a second week or not. We have until the 10th to cancel our place in Telluride and either go somewhere else or just head home. The last thing we want to do is just be stuck in our condo due to things being cancelled or the air quality being bad. Hope the fire continues to steer away from your place.

If you have never been to telluride I really hope you don’t have to cancel. My favorite place in Colorado.

This is our 9th summer in a row spending some summer in the mountains of Colo and usually have mostly been in Summit Co. We have also been to Steamboat, Winter Park and Salida/Buena Vista on some shorter trips but the Telluride/Crested Butte/Ouray area has always been on my list to check out. Many of these ski/mountain towns are a lot of the same(which I love) but still like to check them all out. If we decide to cancel we will be there in the next few years either way. Anything we should check out that might not pop up on a typical google search?

It's tough in the West overall. I live in Idaho and we got no snow this winter to speak of. It's been dry as hell this spring and summer. With no snowmelt runoff we are looking at a REALLY bad fire season IMHO.

Unfortunately it has been about 15 years since I have been out there so anything I would recommend might be out dated. We were there for a jazz festival and did some serious hiking on the backside of the ski mountain. Some great little lakes at tree line back there. 4 wheel drive to get there though. It’s sketchy. At least it was back then.

I agree that most of the ski towns are pretty similar. Awesome but similar. That’s what makes telluride so awesome. It looks completely different than the others. It’s the San Juan mountains and they just look different. It’s beautiful.
