I would think a move like that may have more to do with personnel needs on those two teams, rather than a promotion, but could be wrong.
Jake is using a wood bat now. He’s gonna get called up sooner than later but he needs a few more at bats under his belt.
Huh, Columbia Fireflys. If he's still there at the end of August I'll roll out to SRP Park and catch a game.
Keep these posts coming. I am rooting for all our former players but I'm really pulling for Cole. That guy was willing to do whatever we needed from him until he finally found his place on the baseball field.
Antoine Duplantis is batting under 0.100 and Jake is batting under 0.300 against that competition. I think it’s fine right now for both of them.
You are right, and to put a finer point on it, pitchers don't pitch forever. He may get his shot sooner than a 19-year old just because he has 4-5 years less career left.

I hope he can. It is really hard to get to the Show though. 30 teams. 12-13 pitchers on a team. The issue is you dont see guys throw as soft as he does. He's got an amazing offspeed pitch. More developed than younger pitchers.

Same here. My office is right down the road. I Plan to catch a game for sure now. The fan has been to a couple of games. It’s a nice ballpark.
Cole was sitting 90-92 for damn near the entire season, up to 93 and 94 a handful of times.
I bet the Mets could not care any less about their respective batting averages after three games.
Some people fail to read a post in the context of what preceded it. It was suggested in a previous post that these players should not be playing in this league because they are too good. The point of the reply is that they should prove themselves in this league before they move on to a better league. “Three damn games” not enough? I agree but Gordon convinced the Mets organization he was ready to move after only one inning of the first and only game he pitched for Brooklyn.

I'm not sure what the Mets have in Columbia OF (A ball), but I don't see the rush to move them up.
I used thebaseballcube for the stats, and they list duplantis as cf. Is that correct? Where is Jake playing?
Jake has played CF in all three games he has played, and Duplantis played LF in those games. Jake was given a rest on July 4 (I listened to the broadcast) and Duplantis played CF in that game.
i agree that both Duplantis and Mangum are where they need to be right now and should move up gradually as they prove themselves at each level.
One of the biggest hopes to get out of A ball and short season A ball quickly is that many of the pitchers there have great velo but very little control. Recipe for taking one in the ribs or worse yet in the noggin.
Hopefully Jake can navigate these waters smoothly and get moved up soon. Unfortunately a lot of that is out of his control and more to do with front office folks moving others around.

They have little control relative to the show, but come on. It’s professional baseball. It’s not a HBP fiesta down there.
Im pulling for Cole. I think he's ahead of many with his off speed pitches. It just seems teams are looking for pitchers, relievers in particular, who are super hard throwers in the majors these days. It seems like every team has 3-5 right handed relievers and 1 or 2 are 95+. Thats why Colby White got drafted so high. It's just a trend.
