It's really not.

Two of the top 5 coaches in the country stayed where they are currently happy.

It's not the end of the world. There are several good candidates out there.

They also publicly admitted talking to us, which is unusual. I kind of like that the biggest names are willing to hear Cohen out even if they ultimately do not take the job.

Nothing like getting rejected by the hottest girl in school like getting rejected right in front of everybody in the middle of the pep rally

I would have rather none of it been in public. I would have rather Cohen just we are going to get a proven winner with good experience and been done with it instead of parading it out in the state and national media

3 . McDonenel, Schloss, and Corbin. That’s the top 3 candidates. Yes there are coaches that we could hire that would and will be great for our program. But ultimately will be a let down in the short term simply bc of how Cohen handled this. He told our fan base he would hire a hall of fame candidate who had multiple CWS experiences.

So you just take a 5 to the dance because you were afraid to get rejected by the 8's & 9"s?

Haha no. I was just making a joke. I actually like us going after the best and agree that it's not a bad thing that they are saying they talked to us. It shows the level of program we are. It's just hard to move the top baseball coaches for whatever reason

There have been a lot of outstanding hires made after schools have struck out with their first few choices. Hell, even Alabama got turned down by Rich Rodriguez before they hired Nick Saban. Cohen has a good track record hiring coaches (what happened with Cannizaro can't really be held against him). There may be a short-term letdown, but I still think he will hire an excellent coach.

I do think Cohen said too much on Out of Bounds (or whatever show it was), but he has been pretty quiet lately. Not much he can do about the other coaches admitting they want to hear him out. We have no idea who else he has been talking too, or what kind of offers he has made.

Short term hopefully, we don't even know who it is yet and everyone is panicking

We've just gone to 3 supers under 3 different coaches, with 3 completely different styles... Does anyone really think Cohen is going to hire someone who can't do the job? After this week, I'm beginning to think we could appoint Jake as player-coach and be respectable.

I want to win like everyone does, but damn, we need to give him a chance to hire someone first before jumping off the cliff.

I'd like to ask all the Chicken Littles on this board how they feel about Joe Moorhead. Were you worried about who we would hire before he was announced? Are you confident in him now? Whyyyy exactly? Because he has a lot of talent coming back? Uh huh. Because he's got a good pedigree? Because national talking heads think he's good? I'm fairly certain that will be the case in our new baseball coach. Jeezus. As someone else said today, sit back and enjoy this weekend (hopefully) and let the man work.

Ps. Lord help the new guy if he doesn't take us to Omaha in his first year.

Being so public and setting the bar so high seems like a HUGE mistake on cohens part. That is the political side of being an athletic director that a former coach doesn't quite get. This needs to stop and cohen needs to come out and say we will resume the search when the season ends.

Cohen didn't publicly say that we were going to hire a Hall of Fame football coach that had been to multiple college playoffs or BCS bowl games.

Yeah. He screwed up that part of the process pretty badly, and I thought so at the time. But that doesn't mean he won't hire an outstanding coach, and I think he will.
