When is someone going to call Cohen out on his BS excuse for not selling alcohol because he wants “the safest environment possible”. It has only been proven a million times that incidents DECREASE when the stadium sells beer. That way people don’t drink more pregame and also bring liquor into the stadium. Everyone knows this (I assume he does to) which is why all other schools have decided to sell it, but he keeps using that crap answer as his excuse. I know it’s probably Keenum making the decision but Cohen is the one going on record with this answer speaking for the university.

When the idea of beer sales first came out, I immediately thought State and Ole Miss would wait each other out then once one made a move, then the other would follow suit. I'm surprised this wasn't the case. I'm sure he's steering on the side of "let's see how this goes at other places" but it's pretty obvious it's going to be a success everywhere and easy revenue. For a school that constantly whines about having one of the lowest budgets in the conference, you'd think that forward thinkers would jump at this right away.

We are talking about this in a group text. The club/suites are allowed alcohol. Just sell beer and let's move on.

I don’t recall hearing anyone at the school whine about the budget. Who are you referring to?

Correlation does not equal causation.

In this case it does. Unless you think it’s just a big coincidence over and over and over.

True. And in the years since the east side Club Level has been open, I've only seen a couple of people who actually appeared "drunk", and I've never seen a fight. Not many youngsters (student age) there if that makes a difference.

Or it's fine for those who bring young children to not have to put up with more drunks. Drink in your tailgates before the game and come in. Everything in life doesn't have to have alcohol involved. I hope it's never approved.

Literally everyone associated with State has used the budget either as an excuse

Or as something to empower their argument. When things are going bad, you’re gonna hear well we can’t compete with the big boys. Look at what schools A, B, and C spend on recruiting. But when things are going well, you’ll hear wow we’re doing this on the smallest budget in the conference. Regardless, anyone with an once of financial intelligence would see that beer sales is an automatic generator with virtually zero overhead. As for the safety issue which Cohen sounds desperate with, professional sports have sold beer, several colleges around the country have sold beer for many years. So I’m not sure where the issue is. Delaying the inevitable is pissing people off. We’re always late to the table with forward thinking.
